Greetings HeroClix Fans!
Welcome as we take first look at the upcoming Lord of the Rings HeroClix: Two Towers set. Today, we look at the best friend a traveling Hobbit could have. And also possibly the worst enemy. We are pleased to present the ever-so-helpful-to-nice-little-Hobbitses, Smeagol!
For 55 points, Smeagol can be played in theme using the Hobbit, Monster, and Ringbearer keywords. He has an epic action called Good Smeagol Always Helps! This allows you to give Smeagol an epic action to choose a keyword that an opposing character possesses. Smeagol can now use Outwit targeting one opposing character per 200 points of the build total if they have the chosen keyword.
Smeagol can get to where he will be of the most use to your force with Leap/Climb. In this stretch of his dial, he has a special power called Sworn to Serve the Master of the Precious. This allows him to use Perplex normally, or to modify the same combat value of every character with the Ringbearer keyword within 6 squares and line of fire by +1. A couple of clicks of Super Senses will let Smeagol attempt to avoid attacks, before switching to Combat Reflexes for the rest of his dial. On his last couple of clicks, Flurry will let Smeagol make two separate close combat attacks. Or, he can choose to use Support to heal a friendly character.
Smeagol sometimes lets the darker side of himself take over. This is represented with a trait called Morph: Gollum, which reads “Give Smeagol a move or close combat action that deals no pushing damage; after actions resolve, replace this character with Two Towers #007 Gollum on the same click number.”
Gollum also costs 55 points and can be built onto theme teams using the Brute, Monster, and Ringbearer keywords. He also has an epic action ability called Soft and Quick as Shadows. This allows you to give Gollum and epic action to let him and 1 character per 100 points of the games build total to use Stealth until the beginning of your next turn.
Gollum can move about the battle field with ease using Leap/Climb. Once in position, he can use Outwit to deprive an opposing figure of a key power. On his second click, Gollum gets a special power for the rest of his dial called Liar. Thief. Murderer! This special power lets him use Poison, and characters with the Ringbearer or Fellowship keyword are dealt 2 damage instead of 1. Defensively, a couple opening clicks of Super Senses will give him the opportunity to avoid attacks. For the rest of his dial, he will be harder to hit in close combat with Combat Reflexes.
Like Smeagol , Gollum has a morph trait, this time called Morph: Smeagol , which reads “Give Gollum a move or close combat action that deals no pushing damage; after actions resolve, replace this character with Two Towers #006 Smeagol on the same click number.”
