Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces – Part II

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Welcome to part two of our preview of the Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces Pack, which we are releasing in connection with the Marvel HeroClix: Superior Foes of Spider-Man set.  If you haven’t seen part one of our Fast Forces preview, click the link here.  Don’t worry, we’ll wait for you.  Done already?  Okay then, let’s jump right in!

First up, we have a villain who is arguably at the top of the list of people who Spider-Man will not be inviting over for dinner.  We’re talking about the Green Goblin!

Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces Pack - Green Goblin

With a point value of 75 points, Green Goblin has a dial that features only standard powers, but what he does with those powers on each click makes him worthy of your attention if he’s on an opposing force.  On three of his six clicks, he has the combination of Running Shot and Energy ExplosionGreen Goblin can also shoot two targets up to six squares away, which adds some punch to his use of Energy Explosion.  On those same clicks, Green Goblin also has Enhancement to help boost the damage value of teammates next to him.  In between his Running Shot/Energy Explosion clicks, Green Goblin can switch to a close attacker and use Sidestep, Combat Reflexes, and Close Combat Expert.  In terms of combat values, Green Goblin’s numbers are a bit erratic but they should be enough to help him take ol’ Web Head or his allies out of a fight.

Up next is one of the most feared crime lords in the Marvel Universe, Wilson Fisk (aka Kingpin)!

Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces Pack - Kingpin

Don’t let Kingpin’s short, four-click dial fool you, his trait and special power make him an interesting figure for characters with the Sinister Syndicate team ability and/or keyword.  His trait, My City, My Rules, lets Kingpin and teammates within 8 squares use the Sinister Syndicate team ability to share their attack values as if they were adjacent.  You can let other Sinister Syndicate teammates fight on the front line while Kingpin hangs back within eight squares and shares his attack values.  If that’s not enough, Kingpin’s special power, Overlord of Crime, lets him use Leadership and OutwitKingpin has a point value of 50, which may seem low for a character with Leadership.  However, Overlord of Crime changes things so that when Kingpin uses Leadership, he can remove an action token from characters with the Sinister Syndicate keyword regardless of point value.  Finally, on Kingpin’s last two clicks, he has Close Combat Expert and Combat Reflexes, making him a tough foe to tackle when fighting up close.

Wrapping up our look at the Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces Pack is an enemy of Spider-Man who has fought alongside the Web Slinger when such a team-up was needed.  We’re talking, of course, about Venom!

Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces Pack - Venom

Venom’s dial features a mix of standard powers that include Charge and Blades/Claws/Fangs, Flurry, and Steal Energy.  However, it’s his two specific traits that make him a viable choice for your force.  Symbiote, which should look somewhat familiar to players, grants Venom the use of Plasticity and Shape Change, and lets him break away automatically.  Symbiote’s Web lets Venom attach a Web marker token to a character he hits.  That character can’t move without breaking away and can’t automatically break away.  However, other characters don’t have to break away from the character with the attached Web marker.  Symbiote’s Web is an ideal trait for those times when you want to hold an opponent in place but don’t want to be stuck next to them once you move in for an attack.

Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and his Greatest Foes Fast Forces – Part I

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Today we are pleased to bring you part one of a two-part look at the Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces Pack, which we are releasing alongside the Marvel HeroClix: Superior Foes of Spider-Man set.  The Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces Pack features six figures, a ClixFX base, and a rules sheet.

Leading off our look at the Fast Forces Pack is the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler himself, Spider-Man.

Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Man and His Greatest Foes Fast Forces Pack - Spider-Man

Coming into play at 75 points, Spider-Man’s Protect the Innocent trait lets him use the Carry ability but only to carry a character with a lower point value.  As for special powers, Spider-Man can use Web Slingshot, which allows him use Hypersonic Speed.  When he does so, you may place him in a square of higher elevation within four squares and line of fire, before moving.  Web Slingshot should come in handy for those times when an opponent is trying to use map terrain to hide, essentially letting Spider-Man reposition and launch from a square of higher elevation, when he uses Hypersonic Speed.

Up next is one of Spider-Man’s biggest critics, former Daily Bugle publisher and editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson.

Marvel HeroClix: Superior Foes of Spider-Man - J Jonah Jameson

Jonah Jameson has a point value of 25 and has a short dial that features Sidestep, Willpower and Outwit. What makes J. Jonah Jameson really interesting is his special power, The World Needs to Know: Your Reckless Actions, which permits him choose an opposing character within four squares and line of fire at the beginning of your turn.  The chosen character cannot be given power actions until your next turn.  The World Needs to Know: Your Reckless Actions is a great power for limiting an opponent’s options by preventing them from acquiring power actions.

Finally, we’ve come to one of Spider-Man’s oldest foes, the diabolical Doctor Octopus!

Marvel HeroClix: Superior Foes of Spider-Man - Doctor Octopus

Like Spider-Man, Doctor Octopus can be added to your force by paying 75 points.  Doctor Octopus’s dial is highlighted by a special power in his speed slot that represents his mobility through the use of his iconic robotic arms.  His special power, Arm Walk, lets him use Sidestep and Improved Movement that lets him ignore elevated terrain, hindering terrain, and allows him to move through squares adjacent to opposing characters (but he’ll still need to break away normally).  The rest of Doctor Octopus’s dial is highlighted by standard powers befitting his scientific genius:  Flurry, Willpower, Energy Shield/Deflection, Combat Reflexes, Outwit, and Perplex.
