On the Road: 2013 Origins Game Fair Pt 2!

Greetings WizKids Fans!

With just one week to go until gamers converge upon the Columbus Convention Center for the 2013 Origins Game Fair, we wanted to touch base with everyone regarding our presence at the show.

Folk interested in purchasing the 2013 Marvel HeroClix: Shuma Gorath and/or the 2013 DC HeroClix: Trinity of Sin team base will be able to do so beginning Thursday morning.  Purchases will be limited to up to two each for Shuma Gorath and/or the Trinity of Sin per customer, per day.  We will be punching badges to ensure fairness in the process, and transactions will be cash only; everyone interested in purchasing these figures can help us by having exact change and their badge ready for punching to ensure the lines move smoothly.

If our daily allotment allows, we may open sales up later in the day to allow for additional purchases in the afternoon (we will announce daily if we’re going to open these up for additional purchases, so please do not ask throughout the day, chances are we won’t know for sure when you happen to ask).  As a reminder, Shuma Gorath will be available for $50, and the Trinity of Sin team base will be $25.

On the Road – HeroClix Nationals & Prizes at Origins Game Fair 2012

Greetings WizKids Fans and Supporters!

Are you a competitive player?  Want a chance to prove you’re the best? Then the HeroClix National Championship at Origins Game Fair 2012 is for you, and your first step is to compete in a HeroClix Grinder event!

A Grinder is a sealed 300 point event where you build the best team to compete with 7 other players.  Each round is single elimination and only one winner will emerge undefeated from each Grinder.  By winning the Grinder, you will get your choice of an Apocalypse or Dr. Fate convention exclusive and passage into the HeroClix National Championship finals on Saturday.  Second place in a Grinder gets you the other convention exclusive not picked by the winner.  On Saturday, join the other 32 Grinder winners in a 300 point Modern Age constructed event.  The first 2 rounds will be Swiss and then a cut to the top 8 players who will play in a single elimination bracket to determine the HeroClix National Champion.  As the winner of the HeroClix National Championship, you will get a badge for Gen Con Indy 2012, and a seat in the HeroClix World Championship Finals on Sunday at Gen Con Indy 2012.  In addition, the National Champion will receive a factory set of Galactic Guardians, a set of 2011 convention figures (Moonstone, Wonder Woman, Famine, Pestilence, and War), Apocalypse, and Dr. Fate.  Finish in the top 8 for Nationals and get to pick a prize from a pool of Apocalypse, Dr. Fate, or one of the 2011 convention figures.

Not playing in HeroClix Nationals? Then check out the prizes in our other events:

A Marvel HeroClix Battle Royale will get the winner an Apocalypse as a prize.

A DC HeroClix Battle Royale will get the winner a Dr. Fate as a prize.

The Lord of the Rings Epic Event will get the winner an Apocalypse and Dr. Fate.  The top half of the players in this event will select a prize from a pool of Apocalypse, Dr. Fate, or one of the 2011 convention figures.

The Star Trek Tactics Event will get the winner an Apocalypse and Dr. Fate.  The top half of the players in this event will select a prize from a pool of Apocalypse, Dr. Fate, or one of  the 2011 convention figures.

The Street Fighter Brave Team-Up Event will get the winner an Apocalypse, Dr. Fate, and a set of the 2011 convention figures.  The top half of the players in this event will select a prize from a pool of Apocalypse, Dr. Fate, or one of the 2011 convention figures.

The Galactic Guardians SuperBooster Event will get the winner an Apocalypse, Dr. Fate, and a set of the 2011 convention figures.  The rest of the players in this event will select a prize from a pool of Apocalypse, Dr. Fate, or one of the 2011 convention figures.

Lastly, as a special treat, all HeroClix event participants will receive official Print and Play materials for playing!

The Quarriors! Quorlds Qualifying Event will get the top 4 players the Quarmageddon expansion, a Quarmageddon promo card, and a pass into the Quorlds Semi-Finals at GenCon Indy 2012.  The rest of the players in this event will receive a Quarmageddon promo card as a prize.

The Quorlds Qualifier Event at Origins Game Fair will be run using the same format as the Quorld Championship Event in August at Gen Con Indy.  This format incorporates the Advanced Capture and Expert Culling rules as indicated in the Updated Rulebook included with the Quarmageddon Expansion Set.  The rulebook is available for download from the Quarriors “How to Play” page on the WizKids Games website. (The specific rules mentioned above can be found on Page 11 of the rulebook.)

HeroClix on the Road 2012 – Dr. Fate

Greetings WizKids Fans and Supporters!

Do you sometimes feel that Fate is against you?  Often when playing HeroClix, I feel that my dice are fated to roll 1 less than the number I need to hit.  Other times, the dice are in my favor when I roll that 5 or 6 that I need to avoid a big hit with super senses.  What better way to ensure that fate is on your side then by playing with our second 2012 HeroClix convention preview, none other than Dr. Fate. (Click on image to enlarge)

Kent Nelson would have died from poison gas but fate intervened when he put on the Helmet of Nabu and became Dr. Fate.  As an Agent of Order, Dr. Fate used his powers to fight back against those who would cause chaos in the world.  The Agent of Order trait allows Dr. Fate to shut down any actions that opposing characters would take to use special powers if they are within 6 squares.  With this trait, Dr Fate forces HeroClix to return to a more orderly era when special powers were not the norm.

If the dice are against you, you can use The Cloak of Destiny (Probability Control) so that you get a second chance at making good on your attack roll or to ensure that your opponent doesn’t land an attack on Dr. Fate.  If anyone manages to damage Dr. Fate, they will take a click of unavoidable damage from his Mystic team ability.  If this isn’t enough to deter your opponent, then Dr. Fate can blast through even the toughest of defenses with his Mystic Bolt (Penetrating/Psychic Blast) power.  At just 100 points, you can build a theme team around Dr. Fate with other Mystical keyworded characters like the members of the Justice League Dark or team him up with his classic teammates from the Justice Society.

Origins Game Fair is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize but don’t worry this figure will also be available at Gen Con Indy.  With Dr. Fate on your side will you punish your opponents on your way to becoming the next HeroClix National Champion?  Tune in on May 9th for another exciting preview!
