Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One

Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix Series One: Kinetic Soldier!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Our series of previews for the highly anticipated Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One Gravity Feed set has thus far revealed fantastic creatures such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Gate Guardian and Firewing Pegasus.  The Kinetic Soldier, the subject of today’s preview, may be a bit more down to earth but can still pack quite a punch and should find its way onto your gaming tables!

 010-Kinetic-Soldier (1)

Coming in at 64 points, Kinetic Soldier hits the battlefield with pretty straightforward dial that features fairly consistent attack values and Energy Explosion on each of his clicks.  In terms of speed powers, Kinetic Soldier starts with a pair of Running Shot clicks that go well with his range of six squares and two targets and the Energy Explosion power.  On Kinetic Soldier’s last two clicks Running Shot is replaced with Sidestep.

On the same clicks as Running Shot, Kinetic Soldier has Energy Shield/Deflection to make him a little more difficult to hit with ranged attacks.  The rest of Kinetic Soldier’s dial features Toughness and a very consistent set of defense values.  Ranged Combat Expert appears on the last three clicks of Kinetic Soldier’s dial to offer an alternative to Energy Explosion.

We’ve saved the best for last:  Kinetic Soldier also comes into play with a trait called Warriors Are Weak, which grants him a +1 bonus to his attack and damage values when he targets a character that can use Blades/Claws/Fangs or Charge with an attack.  Squaring off against a congregation of Alligator’s Swords?  If Kinetic Soldier is on his top click, he’ll enjoy taking aim with an 11 attack value and a damage value of 4!

Kinetic Soldier’s low point cost leaves plenty of room for teammates.  Field a force with multiple Kinetic Soldiers and watch the fur fly as they use Energy Explosion with two targets to deal with clusters of foes.  And if those foes can use Blades/Claws/Fangs or Charge, the Warriors are Weak trait will buff up Kinetic Soldier’s attack and defense numbers!  To help you build a theme team around the Kinetic Soldier, he has the “Alister,” Earth, Future and Soldier keywords.

Thanks for reading!  As a reminder, the Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One Gravity Feed features 55 collectible characters in single-figure foil packs for you to duel to your heart’s content!

Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One

Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One Firewing Pegasus!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

We’re fired up to show you a new character today from the deck of Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One set coming to a retailer near you next month. Today’s preview character is Firewing Pegasus, let’s see if he can “stirrup” emotions!

Firewing Pegasus has two different point values, 120 points and 85 points.  At 120 points he gets 2 extra clicks of life. He starts his top 3 clicks with Hypersonic Speed, Invulnerability, and the special power Burning Trail that says when Firewing Pegasus moves due to its own action, after actions resolve it can use Smoke Cloud as a free action, but when it does, it may only place terrain markers in squares it moved through. This can be great to prevent characters that don’t ignore hindering terrain from trotting off.

On click four Firewing Pegasus gains Charge, Poison, and Toughness. With 3 damage all the way down his dial, your opponent will feel as if he’s been rode hard and put up wet. Firewing Pegasus also has the flight symbol, so using Charge while carrying a character with Outwit will allow Poison to bite through defenses and make your opponent whinny. Toughness will make sure this pony stays in the race!

Firewing Pegasus has the keywords Animal and Fire and with the Animal keyword you should easily be able to create a theme team. Try using the Animal ATA at 4 points per character that says at the beginning of your turn, roll a d6. On a result of 5-6 all friendly characters using this team ability ignore Shape Change and Stealth this turn.

It’s time for us to stop horsing around “bale” out on this preview but be ready for next week’s Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One set preview, you will definitely want to make time for it.
