WizKids Release Date Updates

Over the past few months, many of our shipments have been delayed and release dates have been pushed back. This is of great concern to us and we are hoping that port issues will be resolved as soon as possible. West Coast ports are facing ongoing problems with contract negotiations and equipment shortages. These issues are further magnified due to an increase of imports and delays in rail service. Supply chains have been slowed down for many companies across the United States and Canada. These problems are out of our control but we are doing our best to minimize the effects on you.

Unfortunately, there will still be future release date changes as the port problems continue. Our products are manufactured overseas and many of our cargo containers are stuck. At this time we can confirm that our shipment of DC HeroClix: Justice League- Trinity War is on one of these containers. The US release date of this set will be pushed back until February 18, 2015. We will continue to provide weekly updates on the rest of the items on the list below as new information becomes available.

Announcements Conventions Road to Worlds

Congratulations to the 2014 HeroClix World Champions and An Exciting 2015 World Championship Announcement!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Last week players from all over the world gathered for the HeroClix World Championship at Gen Con Indy.  Some players qualified internationally via Road to Worlds events hosted all over the globe, while others seized the opportunity to participate in last-minute qualifiers hosted at Gen Con itself.  When the dust finally settled on Saturday, one player arose to claim the title of World Champion:  please join us in congratulating Patrick Yapjoco on becoming the 2014 HeroClix World Champion!

2014_hcwc_patrick

That’s not all! For the first time ever, WizKids hosted a HeroClix Team-Up World Championship event.   Teams of three players gathered and competed on Thursday and Friday of the show to earn a spot in the Team-Up World Championship final event on Saturday.  When the last dice were rolled, one Team stood victorious.  Please join us in congratulating the first-ever HeroClix World Championship Team: Kevin Afrooz, Patrick Yapjoco, and Justino Jimenez, also known as “Team Majestix Apex Predators!”

2014_hcwc_team

The HeroClix Road to Worlds in 2014 was an exciting event series with officially sanctioned international events feeding the World Championship Final event at Gen Con for the very first time, and the Road to Worlds 2015 promises to be just as exhilarating with even more events leading up to the 2015 HeroClix World Championship!

road-to-worlds-logo-2015

And speaking of the 2015 HeroClix World Championship, we have even more news to share as well.   Next year, WizKids Games will be moving all of its World Championship events to Origins Game Fair.  This will mean that Origins Game Fair will play host to the 2015 World Championship events for HeroClixAttack Wingand Dice Masters.

This move doesn’t mean WizKids won’t be at Gen Con Indy 2015, far from it in fact.  Players and fans can still expect to see us at Gen Con 2015 both on the exhibit floor and in the tournament hall.  We will still be offering fantastic demos, desirable exclusives and fun competitive events at Gen Con.  Gen Con is a fantastic show and WizKids plans on attending for many years to come.

The move to Origins will allow us to spread out and create comfortable, safe and enjoyable experience for our larger sized events. Along with the move come some changes; specifically we’ll be moving to a ticketing system (or equivalent) as a way to manage the lines at our booth and we will continue to work with show organizers where possible to manage the WizKids crowds outside our areas of jurisdiction.

We realize that these are big changes, not just in locale but also in the timing of the WizKids World Championship events, and we want everybody to have as much advance notice as possible.  There is more news to come later down the line, but in the meantime we wanted to announce this change as early as possible so the WizKids community can plan accordingly.

Mark your calendars for June 3-7, 2015 and join us in Columbus, Ohio for the all-new WizKids World Championship events at Origins Game Fair!

WIZKIDS ANNOUNCES FIRST ANNUAL WIZKIDS OPEN TOURNAMENT EVENT

WIZKIDS ANNOUNCES FIRST ANNUAL WIZKIDS OPEN TOURNAMENT EVENT
One of the year’s biggest events is coming! Prepare to unleash your impressive skills on the tabletop and win fantastic prizes!

HILLSIDE, NJ – July 24, 2014 – WizKids Games, the leader in collectible gaming, is pleased to announce the first annual Wizkids Open tournament event, to be held at participating retail locations across the U.S. this fall.

Featuring some of the hottest games of the year, including Marvel Dice Masters: Avengers vs. X-Men, HeroClix, and Star Trek Attack Wing, players will compete in head-to-head battles to earn glory, exclusive prizes and their rightful place in the 2015 National Championships.

“HeroClix has grown tremendously each year for the past 5 years.  We literally can’t get more space at the bigger conventions,” said Justin Ziran, President, WizKids Games. “Dice Masters acceptance is off the charts and Attack Wing has been a steady grower with a dedicated player base.  With each of these products we hear from fans everywhere that they wish they could get something like what we do for GenCon more often and closer to their homes.“

The WizKids Open is WizKids’ first ever officially sponsored regional gaming event. This year’s event will be hosted at seven stores, spanning from coast to coast.  Most will support regional championships for HeroClix, Dice Masters and Attack Wing as well as smaller events and the ability to buy product that was typically only available for purchase from conventions.

What is the WizKids Open (WKO)?
A great way to come together with fellow fans to play the games you love and a chance to win cool stuff not generally available.

This year’s WizKids Open event includes seven of the biggest stores from across the country.  Each location will be offering for-sale exclusive items and awarding special participation prizes to players as well as providing the opportunity to compete with the best players in their area.

When is the WizKids Open?
Each store is holding their WizKids Open on different dates and times. For more information, visit the WizKids Event System and select your nearest participating store.

Where can I find information about participating locations?
For the official list of participating stores, visit the WizKids Event system.

How do I register for an event?
Registration for WizKids Open events will take place at participating store locations. Space is limited so head over to the WizKids Event System to find out which stores are participating.

What sort of events should players expect at the WizKids Open?
During the WizKids Open, you’ll be able to play Marvel Dice Masters: Avengers vs. X-Men, Star Trek: Attack Wing, and HeroClix!

Will there be any exclusive items for sale during the WizKids Open?
Yes! Each store will have exclusive items for sale during the event. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to get your hands on some of the coolest games and collectibles around.

What can players expect?
Great gaming, great prizes and a good time!

Are there exclusive prizes?
Yes! For the official list of prizes, visit the WizKids Event system.

Are winning tournaments the only way to attain prizes?
Although WizKids reserves the most elite of prizing for the tournament winners, that doesn’t mean they don’t have something for everyone.

Is this going to be a yearly thing?
It will depend on the turn out and overall success of the 2014 Open, but that is the goal.

I run a store and would like to be a part of the WizKids Open. How do I get in on the action?
There are many worthy stores across the country that may qualify for future events of this type.  Criteria for determining future participation will include:

  • WizKids event system registration participation
  • Number of events held and level of player participation
  • Product ordering for the lines that will be held at the WizKids Open
  • Location of store, gaming space, general layout of store
  • History of running events of this type

Will any WizKids Open events be held in international markets?
If everything goes well, WizKids does expect to roll this program out internationally  once a working blueprint for the event series has been established. The first event will be vital to working out any issues, which will pave the way for international rollout. The selection criteria for any future international event will follow the same performance based criteria as noted above.

FEBRUARY 07, 2014 (Hillside, NJ) – Adding to the excitement of the recently announced Tyranny of Dragons from Wizards of the Coast, WizKids Games, a division of National Entertainment Collectibles Association, Inc., is excited to announce an all-new line of pre-painted miniatures for Dungeons & Dragons. The first set of miniatures will coincide with the launch of the highly-anticipated next edition of Dungeons & Dragons tabletop roleplaying game, set to release in summer 2014.

“We are very excited at the opportunity to join the party and work with our friends at Wizards of the Coast to enrich the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop experience for adventurers worldwide,” said Justin Ziran, President of WizKids. “With all the tools WizKids brings to the table, we figure this partnership will be a critical hit,” said WizKids Director of Business and Legal Affairs Alexis Mueller.

The new line of Dungeons & Dragons miniatures will feature creatures and characters that players have come to know and love, allowing them to wage their battles and experience their adventures with a greater level of immersion and tactical interplay.

“This year is going to be the biggest in Dungeons & Dragons’ history,” said Nathan Stewart, Brand Director for Dungeons & Dragons. “It’s important for us to work with strong partners such as WizKids to ensure fantastic Tyranny of Dragons experiences for all D&D fans.”

WizKids will develop figures that support official Dungeons & Dragons key products this summer. For more information, please visit WizKids Games at New York Toy Fair (16-19 February 2014) at Booth 4802, or online at www.wizkidsgames.com/dnd
