TMNT HeroClix: Shredder’s Return – Casey Jones

Goongala, HeroClix fans, and welcome to another exciting preview of the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix: Shredder’s Return set! Today, we’re looking at one of the Turtle’s most dedicated allies – Casey Jones!

This version of Casey Jones is based on his appearance from the 2012 animated series, and is a 50-point piece with a range of 4 squares. For those 50 points, you’re getting some solid mobility and attack values, along with a great special power. His special power, called Goongala!, states that Casey Jones can use Quake. Additionally – after an action resolves in which he moved 3 squares or less, he can use Quake as a free action – great for when you find yourself surrounded by Foot goons, or when you want to put yourself squarely in the mix of a battle!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix: Shredder’s Return - Casey Jones

For standard powers, Casey Jones makes use of all his different gear and talents. He’s got Roller Skates, which provide him with Running Shot, Exploding Hockey Pucks which give him Energy Explosion, and a Hockey Mask which grants Toughness. Couple that with his natural scrappiness and athletic abilities, and you also get the use of Leap/Climb, Combat Reflexes, Empower, and Enhancement Casey Jones might be comfortable as a solo act, but he can be a team player when the need arises!

That’s all for today, HeroClix fans! We hope you’ve enjoyed this preview of Casey Jones, and continue to enjoy the pieces shown for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix: Shredder’s Return Gravity Feed. Until next time, Booyakasha!

TMNT HeroClix: Heroes In A Half Shell Fast Forces Part 1

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Welcome back for another exciting preview for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClixHeroes in a Half Shell set!  The Fast Forces Pack joins the second TMNT HeroClix Gravity Feed  set adding more than 30 characters from the 32-years of TMNT history, based on both the comics and animated TV series.  The first three characters we are going to look at in this Fast Forces Pack represent the turtles and their allies from the original 1987 cartoon show. Introducing Leonardo, Raphael, and Casey Jones.

Each of the turtles in this pack come in at 75 points, share the TMNT, TMNT Ally, Animal, and Martial Artist keywords and have a few other features that make the Shredder’s head spin.  Even though they are mutated into human size, they are still turtles and are most at home near water, which is evident by their Aquatic movement symbol that lets them get around the sewers unencumbered.  They all start off with similar defense powers; Invulnerability moving into Toughness.  The last shared feature is the trait “’Clang’?  Did You Say ‘Clang’?” that modifies their attack value by +1 when attacking only characters 75 points or less, and modifies their damage values by +1 when attacking only characters with the Robot keyword.  That covers their basic ninja training skills; let’s get into their individual fighting styles.

TMNT HeroClix: Heroes In A Half Shell Fast Forces - Leonardo

Starting us off is the team leader, Leonardo.  Leonardo keeps on the move with a mix of Charge and Sidestep to keep chasing the Foot Clan goons and their lackeys.  In addition to late dial Blades/Claws/Fangs, representing his skills with dual katana blades, Leo adds a special attack power to his close combat repertoire, the Two-Toed Kick. This special power that lets him use Force Blast as a free action after hitting a single character with a close attack and gives that character an action token, if they don’t already have one.  On damage, he shows his practical leadership chops as he Empowers his brothers in shells to hit harder.

TMNT HeroClix: Heroes In A Half Shell Fast Forces - Raphael

When Leonardo’s cool head doesn’t prevail, Raphael gets mad and gets even!  Starting off with Sidestep and finishing a little more motivated with Charge and Close Combat Expert, Raphael’s dial is also bookended by a special attack power.  Break Open A Fire Hydrant lets him use Incapacitate with a range value of 4 and, after actions resolve, any hit characters are knocked back a number of squares equal to the number of actions they have.  Like Leonardo, he also has Combat Reflexes to let the soft close attacks bounce off his shell.

TMNT HeroClix: Heroes In A Half Shell Fast Forces - Casey Jones

One of the turtle’s closest human allies, Casey Jones, brings the wild world of sports to your table along with a healthy contempt for the referee.  His trait Rules Are For Suckers states that Casey’s actions do not count against your action total.  This is especially convenient considering his theme-friendly keywords, TMNT Ally and Martial Artist, and his almost-free-agent-status point cost of 50.  Offensively Casey is an all-star but he understands that every championship team has to work together.  He gets into the game with Charge and Toughness and lends an assist to his teammates with Empower.  He stays in the game with Flurry, Combat Reflexes, and trades his 5 range value in for protection from Mind Control, Incapacitate, and being confused by Shape Change with Battle Fury.  Although on a team with the Turtles, you may want to keep him off of his Battle Fury clicks as he may be the only ranged attacker you have that is able to shoot pucks and lob baseballs at the bad guys from 5 squares away.

That’s all for today, HeroClix fans! Stay with us as we finish up previewing the Fast Forces and more figures from the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClixHeroes in a Half Shell set!

Until next time, give ‘em shell!

TMNT HeroClix: Heroes in a Half Shell – Casey Jones

Greetings HeroClix fans, and welcome to another look into the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix: Heroes in a Half Shell set! Today, we’re looking at one of the most popular characters from the 1987 animated series – the hockey mask wearing vigilante, Casey Jones!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix: Heroes in a Half Shell - Casey Jones

Casey Jones is a 5-click, 60-point piece, with a range of 5 squares and one target. He’s a pure fighter, comfortable up close with a hockey stick, or at range by hitting a baseball or puck at an opponent, which is where his Martial Artist keyword comes from. His TMNT Ally keyword needs no introduction, as Casey is one of the most stalwart friends of the Turtles, fighting by their side against the Foot Clan and invaders from Dimension X!

From a power perspective, Casey Jones can also be used either from range or up close. He’s designed to stick and move, with a full dial of Sidestep, allowing him to move up to two squares as a free action – or, if he’s tied up to an opposing character, allowing him a free breakaway attempt. Defensively, he alternates between Energy Shield/Deflection and Combat Reflexes, showing his aptitude at defending himself from attacks from either range or close combat attacks. To demonstrate Casey’s typical…hardheadedness, he closes with a click of Willpower – showing that he’s not going to give up, and will keep pushing to fight to the very end.

He has only one special power, but it encompasses his entire dial on his damage track. Called Body Check or Slapshot?, this power requires you to give Casey Jones a free action, which in turn allows him to choose Close Combat Expert or Ranged Combat Expert. Even better, Casey can use this power until you choose again – so if you know you’re going to be wading into a horde of Foot Ninja’s, you can stick with Close Combat Expert, or you can keep Casey on the fringe of the fight, allowing him to pick enemies off from a distance. He’s a versatile piece designed to support your squad as a secondary attacker, and is dangerous enough for your opponent pause and give a second thought about which character to focus on.

That’s it for today, HeroClix fans! Join us next time for more exciting previews from the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix: Heroes in a Half Shell Set set! Until then, Cowabunga!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix: Casey Jones

Greetings HeroClix Fans,

Welcome to another exciting preview from the eagerly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix set! Today, we’re looking at one of the greatest allies the Turtles have ever had – that streetwise vigilante with a penchant for sporting goods, Casey Jones!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix: Casey Jones

Casey is a 30-point piece, with 5 clicks of life, and the keywords of Brute and TMNT ally. At this point cost, he fits in nicely on TMNT ally themed teams, rounding out an already formidable squad of the shelled brothers. And, in coupling with our lead preview for this set, he pairs nicely with his best buddy Raphael!

His intense (and frequently confrontational) bromance with Raphael is represented by his trait, Alright, Shorty, Show Me What You’ve Got. This trait gives Casey a Unique Modifier which allows him and a friendly character named Raphael, a +1 attack modifier when they’re adjacent to each other. This boosts Casey into double digits across the board for attack if you’re able to keep him and Raphael adjacent to each other and working in harmony to kick Foot Clan butt!

Alongside that trait, Casey Jones sports some good standard powers, with Charge, Flurry, Willpower, Combat Reflexes, and Battle Fury. With that, he has a special power called Goongala Goongala, which states that when you give Casey Jones a close combat action and he makes an attack, should he hit with that attack, you would then be able to move him up to two squares away, allowing him to break away automatically. At this point, you’re then able to make another close attack, with his attack and damage values modified by +1!

There you have it, Shellheads, our look into one of the most popular characters from the TMNT mythos, Casey Jones! To go along with this power-packed 30-point dial, we’re quite partial to the sculpt of Casey, capturing his classic look from the original Mirage comics – a menacing vigilante in a hockey mask, with sporting equipment to spare!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this look into the world of the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix set – we’re incredibly excited for its release and we know, based on the reactions to the sculpts shown at New York Toy Fair, that you are as well. Until next time, may all your hits be critical!
