Marvel HeroClix: All-New X-Men Fast Forces- Part 1

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Today we have part one of a two-part preview article for the Marvel HeroClix: All-New X-Men Fast Forces Pack release, which coincides with the Marvel HeroClix: Uncanny X-Men set, releasing next week.

All of the figures in this Fast Forces come in at a svelte 50 points; easy for team-building with a wide range of options.  All five of the original X-Men are represented and have the All New X-Men and Past keywords, the X-Men team ability and a trait; Time Locked, that prevents opposing characters from using Probability Control on attack rolls either made by or targeting themselves.

Leading off the new adventures of yesterday’s X-Men as they encounter today’s matured X-Men we have Cyclops, the team’s natural leader.

Marvel HeroClix: All-New X-Men Fast Forces- Cyclops

Cyclops sports almost a full dial of Leadership to help boost your team’s action total.  Defensively, he starts with Energy Shield/Deflection to keep him safe from return fire as he snipes from 7 Range away before switching to Willpower. What makes him interesting, and perhaps more dangerous than his dial suggests, is his special speed power, Precise Optic Blast, that lets Cyclops use Force Blast normally or, if he has no action tokens, he can use it as a free action which allows him to choose the direction of knockback any time he knocks a character back for any reason.

Up next on the Marvel HeroClix: All-New X-Men Fast Forces roster we have the brains and brawn of the team, the Beast.

In addition to the keywords he shares with his other original X-Men brethren, Beast is also a Scientist.  With a high movement value and Leap/Climb, Beast can get into position to tie up your opponents and keep them busy with trying to breach his high close combat defense value with Combat Reflexes and Perplex, and perhaps hold out to deal some big damage with Close Combat Expert.

Lastly today, we have the team transportation, Angel.

Marvel HeroClix: All-New X-Men Fast Forces- Angel

Angel is pretty basic with the Flight ability, Energy Shield/Deflection, and Sidestep but his second trait, Swooping In, suddenly makes these X-Men surprisingly unpredictable on the tabletop. For the cost of a power action, Angel can move half his speed value and either he or a friendly character with the All New X-Men keyword that he carried can make a close attack— this essentially gives him a full dial of Charge or the ability to drop a teammate off to make the punch instead of him.

That’s all for today, HeroClix fans! Stay with us as we finish up previewing the Marvel HeroClix: All-New X-Men Fast Forces Pack, and watch out for upcoming team building articles highlighting the Marvel HeroClix: Uncanny X-Men set.  Remember to sign in or sign up on the WizKids Info Network to find local tournaments, including the Uncanny X-Men Pre-Release tournaments, going on now at select venues.

Until next time, perplex up your defense and pull your tokens!

HeroClix-OrganizedPlay

Greetings HeroClix fans!

We are pleased to start our series of previews for the Marvel HeroClix: X-Men 2014 Monthly Organized Play kit! The X-Men 2014 Monthly Organized Play kit includes 4 copies of 3 Limited Edition figures not found anywhere else. Additionally, all three Limited Edition figures in the X-Men 2014 Monthly Organized Play kit interact with the X-Men team bases from Marvel HeroClix: Wolverine and the X-Men.

To kick things off, please welcome the high-flying Angel! One of Charles Xavier’s original X-Men, Angel boasts both a new HeroClix dial and sculpt unique to this monthly Organized Play kit. The other two figures from the X-Men 2014 Monthly Organized Play kit include previously released sculpts paired with new dials.

Angel comes into play at 65 points and hits the battlefield with a trait called Same Guy, Different Approach. This trait allows Angel to be used in place of #067 Archangel on the #T002 X-Men Gold Strike Force team base. While Angel is attached to X-Men Gold Strike Force, it may use the following asset power instead of Archangel’s:

Angel 1

Angel possesses the Transporter Wing symbol, which lets him use the Carry, Flight, and Move and Attack abilities. On his first two clicks, Angel can help get teammates into place with the Carry ability and his attack values don’t suffer too much if he also chooses to use Hypersonic Speed (with a -2 modifier to his attack value) via the Move and Attack ability. To knock back opposing characters, Angel has the Force Blast power on the first two clicks of his speed slot.

On the first two clicks of Angel’s damage slot he can dish out 3 clicks of damage to opposing characters. Angel also has a special power called Aerial Recon and Assault, which opens up his offensive potential by letting him use Close Combat Expert. Additionally, Aerial Recon and Assault lets Angel help his teammates by preventing opposing characters within 4 squares from using Stealth. Defensively, Angel has the Toughness power to help him absorb some of the damage dealt to him.

Once Angel is off his top two clicks, he drops Force Blast in favor of Charge but picks up Quake in his attack slot as his new means of knocking back opposing characters. Defensively, Angel switches from Toughness to Super Senses. Aerial Recon and Assault sticks around on Angel’s third click, then is replaced with Exploit Weakness on his last two clicks.

Angel makes a viable taxi or third attacker for your force and has the Celebrity, X-Factor and X-Men keywords as options if you choose to add him onto a themed team. He also possesses the X-Men team ability, which lets him heal a click if he’s adjacent to a character using the same team ability.

Thanks for reading! Join us next week for another look at the Marvel HeroClix: X-Men 2014 Monthly Organized Play kit as we visit a member of the Braddock clan who once was an assassin for The Hand. And be sure to come back later this week for more previews from other upcoming HeroClix releases!

Marvel HeroClix X-Men – Days of Future Past: Angel!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

005-Angel

Angel possesses both the Defenders and X-Men team abilities and starts out with a trait called A Team Player since the Beginning. This will allow adjacent friendly characters with the Defenders or X-Men team ability to use both the Defenders and X-Men team abilities.

The Defenders team ability would allow characters who use this team ability to replace their defense value with the unmodified defense value of an adjacent friendly character that is also using the Defenders team ability.

The X-Men team ability would allow two friendly characters that can both use the X-Men team ability and are adjacent to each other; you may give one of them a power action and roll a d6. Heal the other character of 1 damage. If the result of the d6 roll was a 1-4, deal the character given the power action 1 unavoidable damage.

Angel starts out with 2 clicks of Sidestep followed by 2 clicks of Flurry. On his first 4 clicks Angel can use Super Senses which will allow him to roll a d6 when hit by an attack; on the result of a 5 or 6 Angel would evade the attack. On clicks 2 and 3 Angel can use Perplex.

Angel has a special power called Winged Warrior. This will allow Angel to use Charge. When he does, he can use Improved Movement ignores characters and would modify his speed value by +2.

Angel has the Flier combat ability however on his last two clicks he now gains the use of Earthbound/Neutralized. This would make it so Angel would now possess all standard combat symbols. Angel can also use Combat Reflexes.

Angel is 74 points and has the Celebrity, Champions, Defenders, X-Factor and X-Men keywords.

Thanks for reading and be sure to continue to check back as we look at figures from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix: X-Men – Days of Future Past gravity feed set. Until then, Shape Change for the Win!!
