Marvel HeroClix: Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.- Invaders Team

Published on August 14th, 2015

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

We’re back with another team building exercise, this time utilizing characters from the Marvel HeroClix: Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. set!  We previously highlighted Union Jack, a prime character in the set and member of the Invaders.  Today, we’ll shine the spotlight on Union Jack’s allies by building a team around the Invaders keyword!

Up first on the team and making her HeroClix debut is Radiance, whose grandmother (the costumed adventurer known as Golden Girl) fought alongside the Invaders as a member of the Kid Commandos!  Radiance comes in at 65 points and has the Invade Your Territory trait possessed by other Invaders characters in this set that lets them ignore and remove opposing Barrier and Smoke Cloud markers when moving through them.

Radiance has the Wing speed symbol, which means she can use fly and carry teammates with her – a handy ability when combined with Invade Your TerritoryRadiance’s usefulness as a teammate doesn’t stop there.  On Radiance’s first and last clicks she has a special power called Shimmering Invasion, which lets her and adjacent teammates use Shape Change to potentially avoid attacks.  So you can fly Radiance into position while carrying a teammate and ignoring and removing Barrier and Smoke Cloud markers, then protect both characters from attacks by using Shape Change!  The rest of Radiance’s dial is rounded out by some useful standard powers, like Running Shot, Sidestep, Incapacitate, Pulse Wave, Willpower, Energy Shield/Deflection, and Super Senses.

Our next team member is the Blazing Skull!  Coming in at 70 points, Blazing Skull has a trait called Immune to Fire which limits an attacker’s maximum damage value to its printed value when they shoot at him.  Blazing Skull also has a special power called Ghastly Flame that can help him against opponents who get too close by letting him use Poison to damage adjacent enemies and Super Strength to grab objects and use them in attacks.  Blazing Skull is built primarily for close combat so the rest of his dial features appropriate standard powers like Charge, Sidestep, Poison, Toughness, Combat Reflexes, Regeneration, and Shape Change.

The third member of our team is Lady Jacqueline Falsworth (aka Spitfire), the lightning-quick heroine whose father and brother also were members of the Invaders as the first and second incarnations of Union Jack, respectively, and whose uncle is the vampiric villain Baron Blood.  Coming in at 95 points, Spitfire is built to hit-and-run and has a special power called A Bright and Blazing Trail which lets her use Hypersonic Speed and gives her a defensive boost if opponents try to shoot her.  That’s backed up by another special power called Legacy of Baron Blood’s Bite, which lets Spitfire use Flurry to attack twice and Blades/Claws/Fangs – but with a maximum damage of 4.  Spitfire’s standard powers are Charge, Precision Strike, Smoke Cloud, Toughness, Super Senses, Regeneration, and Perplex.

Radiance, Blazing Skull and Spitfire make a fun Invaders team that comes in at 230 points and features a solid trio of ranged and close combat attackers.  To bring the team closer to 300 points, you can add the 60-point Union Jack that we recently revealed on our Instagram page!

Thanks for reading!  Join us again as we reveal more exciting characters and highlight strategies and team builds from the Marvel HeroClix: Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D set!
