Marvel HeroClix: Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.- Baron Strucker

You are in for a real treat today, and we’re not just talking about Hydra’s excellent dental plan. Today is another incredible preview from the Marvel HeroClix: Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. set coming in summer of 2015! Today’s preview is a founding member of Hydra; a true believer of a world united under one flag (with himself at the head,) Baron Wolfgang von Strucker!

Baron Strucker (Hail Hydra!) comes in at 120 points; so slightly less than half of a 300-point build. He has the Hydra team ability. That means for every character using the Hydra team ability that is adjacent to a friendly character making a ranged combat attack, modify the target’s defense value by -1 if the target is within line of fire of this character. His Indomitable symbol lets him push on the attack and his 6 range with 2 targets allows him remove 2 heads at a time.

His trait Hydra’s Reach is Worldwide is going to show Hydra’s superior benefits plan. Every time Baron Strucker (Hail Hydra!) takes damage from an attack, the attacker and each opposing character within 2 squares will take 1 penetrating damage. Cut off one head and two will grow in its place!

His 2^nd trait, Ruthlessly Pursuing Hydra’s Goals, is the very model of the camaraderie in the Hydra organization, granting a boost to friendly Hydra keyword characters if another Hydra character was KO’d. So, let’s say Melvin in accounting gets KO’d by an opposing character, all of his Hydra co-workers get really angry and modify their combat values by +1 until the end of their next turn! Hail Hydra!

Baron Strucker’s (Hail Hydra!) dial starts his top 2 clicks identically. Sidestep, Energy Explosion, Mastermind, and the special power Hydra’s True Leader that allows him use of Leadership and Perplex. In fact, the good Baron Strucker’s Mastermind is one of main the reasons that Hydra has such a great comprehensive benefits package, but we digress… Hail Hydra!

In the middle 3 clicks of his dial, Baron Strucker (Hail Hydra!) has Combat Reflexes and Leadership. Using his special power, he can Charge in, use Blades/Claws/Fangs and cause penetrating damage with Exploit Weakness. And to quash any more of these rumors, yes, it’s called Satan Claw Smash, but this is to evoke fear in our enemies. Hydra does not have a supernatural division and any employee that spreads information to the contrary will be disciplined and let go from the organization, with extreme prejudice. Hail Hydra!

The end of his dial once again shows what an excellent (and did we mention comprehensive?) benefits plan Hydra has. He has Stealth and Regeneration allowing for a quick convalescence and the potential of getting back to click 2!
