Welcome back, HeroClix fans to another great preview from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix: Avengers Assemble set! Locking our targets squarely on the more villainous side of the map, today we’re diving deep on one of the most influential and dangerous men in the Marvel Universe, a figure that has long been requested to be remade, The Hood!
The Hood can be played at two point values, 70 points or 220 points. The 70-point dial begins at click one, and is KO’d when you cross the red KO line, whereas the 220-point Infinity Gem wielding version of the character is 10 clicks of destruction. He is also in possession of Improved Movement – Ignores Elevated Terrain, which means The Hood should be able to move around maps that make use of multiple levels and elevations with relative ease.
The first half of his dial, as mentioned, is a stealthier version of The Hood, a representation of the character more apt to hiding in the shadows and picking his shots. To show this, he has a special power called Invisible When I Hold My Breath, allowing The Hood to use both Sidestep and Stealth. Along with that, if The Hood has no action tokens, lines of fire can’t be drawn to him by opposing characters 3 or more squares away. To go along with that power, The Hood also brings Precision Strike, Willpower, Energy Shield/Deflection, and Ranged Combat Expert.
Where things start to get infinitely more powerful, however, is when The Hood crosses the red KO line. Starting at click 6, The Hood begins to show his strength and mastery of all of the Infinity Gems. Special powers like Using My Reality Gem to Assemble the Gauntlet which allows The Hood to use Probability Control during your turn, or Using the Gems to Keep Myself Alive which grants him Impervious, and also functions as a non-ignorable stop click. With all this comes powers like Stealth, Mind Control, Perplex, Close Combat Expert, and Phasing/Teleport.
The Hood possesses the Mystics team ability, and can be played on Initiative, Maggia, and Mystical themed teams. And no matter what role you have him fill – either as the 70 point mosquito that is constantly hidden, or the 220 point monster that runs the board – we don’t think you’ll be disappointed with his performance.
That’s all for today, HeroClix fans! Be sure to join us next time as we continue Assembling Avengers!
