Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix Series One: Cannon Soldier!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

It’s game time as we look into the Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One set. Thus far we have seen many ways in which to affect the battle field and the Cannon Soldier will continue to add strategic ways in which do manipulate board control.

022-Cannon-SoldierThe Cannon Soldier has a special attack power called Cannon Fire. This will allow Cannon Soldier to use Telekinesis, but he may only place adjacent friendly characters. When it does, its line of fire isn’t blocked by the placed character and, after actions resolve, it may make a ranged combat attack as a free action with an area of effect targeting all opposing characters adjacent to the placed character. Hit characters are each dealt 2 damage.

To understand this power completely let us first look at the Rule Book under “Area of Effect”.

Some powers and abilities use the term “area of effect.” An area of effect allows a power or game effect to target more than one character. Characters within the area of an effect are affected even though they may not be within the character’s range or line of fire. When it includes an attack, only one attack roll is made and the Attack Total is compared to each target character as well as any other characters specified by the area of effect.

For today team up let’s go with Cannon Soldier with last week’s Goblin Zombie. If the Goblin Zombie is adjacent to Cannon Soldier; then Cannon Soldier is able to use Telekinesis and target the Goblin Zombie and place him within 8 squares and line of fire to the target square. After that action had resolved and an action token had been placed on Cannon Soldier he would then be able to make a ranged combat attack, as a free action. He would target all opposing characters adjacent to the Goblin Zombie. You would compare your Attack Total to all targeted characters defensive value and then each hit character would be dealt 2 damage. Then Goblin Zombie, if able, could still perform an attack of his own.

Cannon Soldier also starts out with 2 clicks of Running Shot with a 7 range value and a 3 damage value on his top click. Cannon Soldier has Toughness on 5 of his 6 click dial and ends with 2 clicks of Ranged Combat Expert.

Cannon Soldier is just 95 points and could even be fun to team up multiples of this guy on the same team. Cannon Soldier has “Rebecca Hawkins”, Dark, and Robot as its keywords.

Additional Team Abilities will be legal in the Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One universe and this guy would qualify for the Robot ATA; however he would still need a buddy. When two friendly characters that can use this team ability are adjacent to each other, choose one of them to use Perplex until your next turn, but it may only target characters with the Robot keyword. A character may only use this team ability once per turn and it is Uncopyable.

Thanks for reading and be sure to continue to check back as we look at more figures from the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One set. Until then, always be ready to DUEL!!
