Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One

Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix Series One: Alligator’s Sword!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

We’re cutting a new character today from the deck of Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One set coming to a retailer near you in February! Today’s preview character is Alligator’s Sword, we don’t want to keep you on edge, so we’ll dive right in!

Alligator’s Sword at 60 points is a true swashbuckling swordsman of reminding us of earlier HeroClix dials. He’s not conceited, flashy, or loaded down with words on his card, he just wants to do one thing, swing a sharp cutting thingy with panache.  With 6 clicks of life on his dial, he should be able to hack away at anything that comes his way.

The dial for Alligator’s Sword starts with Charge, Blades/Claws/Fangs, and Toughness. He has B/C/F for all of his clicks but his last, and even then he is swinging a natural 3 damage. His attack numbers are great too, he alternates back and forth between a 10 and 9 attack his entire dial as well.

Movement powers for Alligator’s Sword throughout his dial are really sharp as well. Charge on his top 2 clicks, then 2 clicks of Sidestep, then 2 clicks of Flurry. Conservation of movement in action! Move in with Charge, then Sidestep to next opponent, then Flurry to finish off your opponent. With 4 clicks of Toughness and a 17 defense for the top half of dial, and 16 for bottom half, he’ll be around long enough to cut down his opponent’s team.

Alligator’s Sword has the keywords “Joey Wheeler,” Earth, and Warrior. A well balanced and fun 300 point Golden Age Warrior theme team could be this one I call “Big Mean Green Machine!” Add YGO #017 Alligator’s Sword,  #100 Thor, Frog of Thunder (from Marvel HeroClix: Hammer of Thor),  #058 Warskrull (from Marvel HeroClix: Mutations and Monsters), and AVM 034 Skrull Warrior (from Marvel HeroClix: Avengers Movie) . With eight points left over you add a the #102 Tank Turret (from Marvel HeroClix: Chaos War) and  Secret Invasion Additional Team Ability* to put on the Skrulls (“When a character using this team ability is targeted with an attack by an opposing character with which it shares a keyword, modify this character’s defense value by +1.”)  for a total of 298 points.

With 4 characters you will have a better chance of winning map roll, so pick a map with lots of water for Thor, Frog of Thunder. If you won map roll, and have the water terrain to put Thor, Frog of Thunder into water to deal damage with his Leader of the Frog and Alligator Army special power( “At the beginning of your turn, each opposing character within 6 squares of Thor, Frog of Thunder that is also adjacent to or occupying water terrain is dealt 1 damage.”) then get him in it! Warskrull will carry the Tank Turret and use it or push and drop it in the square he is in for his second click when he gets Stealth and Pulse Wave. Be sure to use his Outwit while you are hidden. Use Warskrull to take out defensive powers so that Alligator’s Sword has more sting. Push Skrull Warrior using charge to his next click where he gets Perplex and Stealth. Use his Combat Reflexes will help him keep supporting you while he hides. Push him to his Flurry special power if he gets into trouble and needs to take out a character basing him. This team can really out-action a standard 300 point team, your opponent will be green with envy!

Thanks for reading and be sure to come back next week because you won’t want to ignore the next Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix: Series One set preview!
