Galactic Guardians Heroclix Preview

This Man is a Nihilist. Be Very Afraid.

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Today we kick off our series of previews for Marvel HeroClix: Galactic Guardians by spotlighting a cosmic character who wants nothing more than to slay every being in the universe to impress his beloved Mistress Death. Please welcome the Mad Titan, Thanos!

Thanos can be played at 300 or 150 points. At his 300-point level, he boasts a deep 10-click dial. When played at 150 points, he starts on click five. At either point level, Thanos has two traits in play once he hits the battle map. His first trait, The Perfection of Nihilism, allows Thanos to heal one damage whenever an opposing character is KO’d. It also modifies his combat values by +1 for each opposing character that is KO’d since the end of your previous turn! The second trait, Avatar of Death, prevents other characters from being healed.

The cosmic tyrant begins the game with Phasing/Teleport on his first two clicks, allowing him to move where needed. Thanos also boasts Penetrating/Psychic Blast, which allows him to deal five clicks of damage to opposing characters while bypassing any damage-reducing powers! On his next two clicks, Thanos can pursue an opposing character, then attack that figure, thanks to Running Shot. He also cycles between one click of Pulse Wave (to catch multiple enemies off guard) and a click of Penetrating/Psychic Blast (to focus his attacks).

Defensively, Thanos starts with Invulnerability and a defensive value of 19! Once Thanos is off his first click, he switches to Impervious and also gains his first click of Outwit, which represents the Eternal schemer’s brilliant intellect! Since he’s regarded as a master strategist, Thanos has Outwit again on his fourth, sixth, and eighth clicks.

At his 150-point starting line, Thanos opens with two clicks of Phasing/Teleport. He also switches between Penetrating/Psychic Blast and Pulse Wave for those same two clicks! Defensively, Thanos starts with two clicks of Invulnerability and a defensive value of 17 to help him absorb damage from big hits. On his next two clicks, Thanos ditches Pulse Wave in favor of Penetrating/Psychic Blast while Invulnerability makes way for Toughness. Movement-wise, Thanos regains Running Shot for one click before resuming the use of Phasing/Teleport on his last three clicks!

Mistress Death’s eternal embrace has often eluded Thanos, and this is represented on his dial with Regeneration on his last two clicks. On those last two slots he also shows his desire for solitude by using Quake to hurt and knock back opposing characters!

Thanos sports a range of 9 and can target two characters while the Power Cosmic team ability allows him to ignore pushing damage and prevents his powers from being countered. A key player in several storylines in Marvel’s cosmic universe, Thanos can be included in a number of different forces, thanks to his many keywords: Cosmic, Eternal, Infinity Watch, Mystical, Scientist, and Warrior.

We hope you enjoyed today’s preview! Join us next time as we visit with a being who is sometimes his own worst enemy! Until then, keep your clix off their KO’s!
