Greetings HeroClix Fans!
Welcome to another preview from this summer’s upcoming OP Event, Marvel HeroClix: Age of Ultron! Today, we look at the royal leader of Wakanda, T’Challa, the Black Panther!
Given his childhood growing up in the jungles of Wakanda, T’Challa is a hunter of the highest regard, proven by his Improved Movement ability Stalking my Prey…Anywhere, which allows Black Panther to ignore both Hindering Terrain and Elevated Terrain. Being a scientific genius, it’s logical that he would have the latest in technological advances, proven by his trait Cloaking Tech. This ability not only grants Black Panther the ability to use Stealth and Toughness, but it also ensures that lines of fire drawn to T’Challa are blocked when he is adjacent to blocking terrain when it’s not your turn.
His Indomitable spirit and peak physical abilities are shown by his plethora of standard powers. He has a wide variety of abilities, including Plasticity, Blades/Claws/Fangs, Combat Reflexes, Outwit, and Perplex. As he moves through his 7-click dial, T’Challa is a force to be reckoned with, with powers that will allow him to either get through all damage reducers, or counter them via Outwit. And while Black Panther’s abilities may indicate that he should only be considered as a close combat fighter, don’t lose sight of his somewhat sneaky range of 3 squares – use this to your advantage to pop off a quick shot against an opponent when they’d least expect it!
Not to be outdone by his standard powers, however, are Black Panther’s special abilities. On his opening two and closing two clicks, he possesses a special movement power called Spring from the Shadows. This power allows T’Challa to use Charge, as well as grants him the use of Sidestep when he is adjacent to blocking terrain, or when he occupies hindering terrain. On damage, his final special power, More Than a Head of State displays his natural abilities to lead not only a super team, but also a nation, by giving Black Panther access to both Leadership and Outwit.
At 140 points, Black Panther makes up nearly half your build total for a team, but he’s well worth the investment. And, with the wide variety of characters you can build around him based on his Avengers, Fantastic Four, Illuminati, Martial Artist, Mystical, Ruler, or Scientist keywords, you won’t be lacking for variety in your builds.
Thanks for checking in, ‘Clix fans, and be sure to join us next time as we look even deeper into the Marvel HeroClix: Age of Ultron SLOP event!
