Heroclix Lord Of The Rings Preview

Defender of Osgiliath

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

We continue our spotlight on the sons of Gondor with the youngest son of the House of Denethor.  Our preview today is a Wizard’s pupil, Ranger of Ithillien, and leader of the garrison at Osgiliath.  We speak of none other than Faramir!

Faramir begins play demonstrating the qualities that make him so well-suited to lead the Rangers of Ithilien with an apt special power.  Ranger Captain grants Faramir the use of Enhancement, Running Shot, and Stealth, allowing him to maneuver to the best spot not only for a ranged attack of his own, but also to support the ranged attacks of friendly figures while taking cover in hindering terrain to prevent ranged retaliation from opposing figures! With an 8 range value, Faramir’s team will definitely get mileage from this versatile special power!

After his first click, Faramir takes a slight dip in gis attack value but gains both Willpower and Leadership, allowing him to not only ignore pushing damage but to also potentially gain actions and free up friendly figures to act during your turn.

Late-dial Faramir exchanges his Ranger Captain special power for standard Running Shot and also gains Penetrating/Psychic Blast and the He’s Not Dead! special power.  He’s Not Dead! allows Faramir to use Toughness and stops his dial from being turned further when it is revealed.  Faramir must take an action token (if able) when this special power is revealed, but this token does not deal pushing damage (if normally applicable) and potentially keeps Faramir on the board.

At only 65 points, Faramir is loaded with move and attack on every click, has consistent combat values, and an elegant power selection.  Faramir makes an easy ranged combat addition to most force builds and strategies, and theme teams will love him!

That’s all we have for today, but be sure to join us next week as we continue to explore Middle Earth.  Until then, keep your Clix on the path!
