DC HeroClix: Superman/Wonder Woman – First Born

Greetings HeroClix fans!

We’re back with another preview from our upcoming DC HeroClix: Superman/Wonder Woman set.  Today, we look at the very first child conceived by Hera and Zeus whose march to vanquish the Olympian gods led to Wonder Woman succeeding Ares as the new God of War.  We are pleased to bring you First Born!

DC HeroClix: Superman/Wonder Woman - First Born

First Born has a deep, 10-click dial and comes in at an even 200 points, which leaves some room in smaller-point matches for a support character or two, a resource or special objects/relics.  First Born’s power set marks him as a close combat piece so you’ll want to keep that in mind when building a force with him as the centerpiece.  If you’re looking to include First Born on a themed team, he has the Animal, Brute, Deity and Warrior keywords.

First Born hits the battlefield with a pair of traits.  We’ve shown you the first trait, Divine Aura, on characters like Hades and Hermes and it offers First Born some protection against Outwit and Probability Control unless the opposing character targeting him has a higher point value or the Deity keyword.

The second trait, Scion of Hate, grants Battle Fury to all characters within 3 squares.  Picking up Battle Fury can potentially muck with an opponent’s plans since the power prevents characters from making ranged attacks or being carried; however, players fielding First Born should think of the power as a boon since it also lets you ignore Shape Change and prevents you from being targeted by Incapacitate and Mind ControlScion of Hate also helps friendly characters adjacent to First Born by boosting their attack values by +1.

Moving to First Born’s dial, he starts with the combination of Charge and Exploit Weakness to punch through any damage he deals.  He has solid combat values in his speed, attack and damage slots to help him make quick work of any lesser characters.  To work with and follow-up on First Born’s Charge attacks, he has a special power called Strength to Shatter the Earth, which lets him use Super Strength and Quake, but with a locked damage value of 3.

Mid-dial, First Born drops Charge in favor of holding his opponents in place with Plasticity.  He also drops Strength to Shatter the Earth for standard Super StrengthExploit Weakness is also gone, with Close Combat Expert taking its place.  First Born’s next two clicks feature Flurry to let him attack twice and Steal Energy to heal.  First Born’s last two clicks see the return of Exploit Weakness paired with Sidestep and Steal Energy.

Defensively, First Born opens with a pair of Invincible clicks, then he switches to ImperviousInvulnerability and Combat Reflexes round out First Born’s dial.

First Born has the Indomitable defense symbol, which lets him ignore pushing damage by granting him the use of Willpower.  He also has the Giant damage symbol which improves his chances of breaking away and allows him to make close attacks from two squares away.  It also lets him ignore elevated, hindering, and outdoor blocking terrain when he moves and allows him to move through squares adjacent to opposing characters.
