Greetings HeroClix Fans!
Today we are pleased to present the unlikeliest of allies and the most unexpected of friends. As they travelled across Middle Earth on their vital quest these two warriors gained a deep respect for the other that would went beyond kinship. Who else could we be talking about but Gimli and Legolas!
Gimli begins play by bringing the fight to his foes thanks to front loaded Charge. An initial dial of Quake is replaced with Blades/Claws/Fangs as Gimli switches tactics from scattering his foes to cutting them down with his arsenel of Dwarven axes. Gimli’s Let Them Come special power potentially allows him to add insult to injury as he adds action tokens to opposing figures that he managed to hit for 3 or more total damage in a single action.
Mid- to late-dial Gimli switches tactics and gains Flurry which allows him to further capitalize on his Let Them Come special power!
Initially, Invulnerability protects Gimli from harm and then gives way to Toughness, while late-dial Combat Reflexes demonstrates his nimbleness in melee.
A four range and the Indomitable ability further ratchets up Gimli’s usefulness on your team. With competitive stats and an aggressive power selection, Gimli is a capable addition to your force at only 107 points. Add in his Epic ability, Hold Your Ground!, and he is a steal for his points (especially in larger games!). A +2 boost to defense is no laughing matter!
Unlike his stout companion, Legolas prefers to maneuver around the battlefield and attack from range thanks to his Running Shot. Legolas’ Rapid Shot special power grants him a +2 attack bonus when he makes a ranged combat attack, and further modifies his damage value by +1 for each character he targets so long as he assigns each hit target at least one damage! Combined with both his Running Shot and Sharpshooter ability, Legolas is every bit the capable ranged attack piece for your Fellowship!
Mid-dial Legolas gains Penetrating/Psychic Blast as his initial clicks of Super Senses are replaced with Energy Shield/Deflection, while Leap/Climb demonstrates Legolas’ agility and ability to swiftly move unhindered across the battlefield.
Toward the end of his dial, Legolas regains both Super Senses and his Rapid Shot special power, while he draws a new trick from his quiver in the form of Ranged Combat Expert! With three targets at 10 range, Legolas is deadly no matter what ranged option he selects!
Last but not least Legolas’ Flank Epic ability allows him to move unhindered long the edge of the map, and carry friendly characters as well!
No matter the strategy, a strong ranged and close combat tag-team will benefit most any team build. That’s all we have for today but be sure to join us next week as we continue to explore Middle Earth!
