Beware Their Power! A Green Lantern Fast Forces Preview

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Happy Release Day! Green Lanterns are flying into stores (and off of shelves) in stores everywhere today as both the Gravity Feed and Fast Forces packs go on sale! We follow up Monday’s preview with the rest of the Fast Forces pack starting with Sinestro!

Clocking in at 100 points, this Sinestro is a Rookie but no less effective for his early-career! Starting with a couple clicks of Charge, Sinestro flies into battle armed with Exploit Weakness to get around his foes’ damage reducers.   Mid-dial, Sinestro picks up Force Blast and some protection from ranged attacks via Energy Shield/Deflection, as well as his The End of Willpower, the Beginning of Fear special power.  Sinestro’s special power enables him to  increase his attack value by pushing, potentially making his attack an 11 or 12 on his late-dial!

With a nine range value and Penetrating/Psychic Blast at the back part of his dial, Sinestro remains a threat even until the end!

Next up we have one of the enigmatic and powerful Guardians of the Universe!

As one of the commanders of the Green Lantern Corps, the Guardian of the Universe wields great authority and power, and this figure is no exception! Early-dial Phasing/Teleport allows the Guardian to manuever virtually anywhere he wishes.  He can then set up for a ranged attack from up to 10 squares away with Penetrating/Psychic Blast! And the Indomitable ability means that the Guardian will not be taking pushing damage if acts two turns in a row.

Outwit also compliments the Guradian’s opening arsenal as well, making the Guardian too dangerous to ignore! However, Impervious (and then Invulnerability) protects the Guardian from some of the damage sure to come his way.   Toughness and Probability Control eventually replace the more aggressive opening clicks and Pulse Wave ensures that he remains a threat near the end of his dial where the Guardian picks up Phasing/Teleport again.

At 150 points, the Guardian of the Universe is a very effective addition to many strategies and a worthy candidate for any Green Lantern force!

Speaking of effective and strategic additions, next up we have Abin Sur!

At only 50 points, this Abin Sur is one of the best figs around for carrying other figures! The Green Lantern team ability allows Abin Sur to carry up to 8 adjacent freindly figures, OR he can carry one figure with a standard base via his Always Uses a Ship special power regardless of the carried figure’s combat symbols!

Early-dial Super Senses helps protects Abin Sur from attacks, but gives way to Barrier.   As Earthbound grounds Abin Sur, he also picks up Ranged Combat Expert which allows him to stay in the fight even as he faces the end of his dial.

This wraps up our Green Lantern Fast Forces articles and we hope you’ve enjoyed them as much as we.  Be sure to join us Friday as we begin our Captain America preview series!

No Evil Shall Escape Their Sight! A Green Lantern Fast Forces Preview

Greetings Heroclix Fans!

Today we offer the first of two articles spotlighting the contents of the Green Lantern Fast Forces pack due out this Wednesday, May 18th, 2011.  We start our previews off with none other than Hal Jordan of Earth, the Green Lantern!

Early-dial Telekinesis and Phasing/Teleport allow Green Lantern to move into position or manuever a friend or foe to just where you want them.  Set up an ally for a critical attack or take a shot at an opposing figure up to 8 squares away with Green Lantern’s Ranged Combat Expert on a subsequent turn! Since he has the Indomitable ability, Green Lantern won’t have to worry about pushing if he acts two turns in a row!

After the initial click of Phasing/Teleport, Green Lantern can launch into battle with Running Shot.  Mid-dial, he picks up Incapacitate and then Penetrating/Psychic Blast while Toughness gives way to Energy Shield/Deflection.  Towards the end of the dial Ranged Combat Expert gives way to Perplex and Green Lantern picks up his Phasing/Teleport again.

Next up we have the incomparable drill sergeant of the Green Lantern Corps himself, Kilowog!

Kilowog starts off with Charge which allows him to get right into the action and mix it up with your opponent’s figures, or you can try another tact and use Kilowog’s Telekinesis and manuever a friendly figure into position where they’ll do the most good.

More of a brawler than a shootist, Kilowog is still handy for ranged combat attacks with a healthy 7 range value.

Invulnerabiliy protects Kilowog for the first two clicks on his dial, and then he moves onto Toughness for a couple of clicks while he picks up Super StrengthCharge gives way to Flurry and Kilowog demonstrates his superior “communication skills” and Willpower replaces Toughness so he can keep on swinging.  Lastly, Kilowog gains Enhancement as he shows that he still has a few tricks to show the new recruits.

Last up for today we have none other than the Green Lantern of Sector 2813, Toma- Re!

Tomar-Re’s dial begins with a click of Running Shot and Energy Explosion, while he enjoys some protection from ranged attacks courtesy of Energy Shield/Deflection.  After his initial click, Tomar-Re picks up Force Blast and Toughness eventually replaces Energy Shield/Deflection.  Towards the end of his dial, Incapacitate rounds out Tomar-Re’s arsenal of powers.

With two targets at 9 range, Tomar-Re is a very useful ranged combat piece at every spot on his dial for 75 points!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this first look at the new Green Lantern Fast Forces dials.  Join us for our next article as we spotlight the remaining figures and be sure to check back at the end of the week as we preview one of America’s top patriots!

Emerald Protectors

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

We conclude our Green Lantern Gravity Feed figure previews with none other than two of the Corps’ most decorated and celebrated officers.  We start our day off with Sinestro!

At only 135 points, Sinestro comes to the fight armed with lots of useful tricks resulting from his many years of experience as a Green Lantern.  Sinestro’s opening click Running Shot helps him get in to the fight and manuever where he can do the most good.  However, if the Lantern from Korugar would rather pick his moment more carefully, Sinestro can instead use his Telekinesis to either position an ally or enemy to a better tactical position for your Green Lanterns!

Early-dial Enhancement demonstrates Sinestro’s tutelage and experience being put to good use by other Green Lanterns, and gives way to Perplex as Sinestro takes a more active role in directing the Lanterns’ efforts.  Toughness helps manage some of the damage dealt to Sinestro while mid-dial Defend helps keep those Green Lantern rookies safe!

Late-dial, Sinestro trades in his Defend for Energy Shield/Deflection as he attempts to better protect himself from ranged attacks.  We also see a hint of the Sinestro we’ve all come to know as he picks up more aggressive tactics with Blades/Claws/Fangs and Exploit Weakness

Next up we have the Green Lantern from Sector 2814.  No we don’t mean Hal Jordan but rather Abin Sur!

At only 70 points, Abin Sur is a welcome addition to Green Lantern teams.  Early-dial Running Shot and Ranged Combat Expert give Abin all sorts of ranged options as he enters the battle.  No matter what you choose, with his Willpower Abin Sur is able to follow up the next turn with a similar attack or use the other option!

Mid-dial Abin Sur picks up Incapacitate as he attempts to lock down the foes of the Green Lantern Corps.  Late-dial Abin Sur gets grounded by some Earthbound/Neturalized but picks up some Pulse Wave proving you can’t keep a good Green Lantern down!

With consistent combat values and a great array of powers, Abin Sur is an incredible asset to many different strategies.

Join us next week as we preview the Green Lantern Fast Forces pack just in time for the release of both Green Lantern products next week on May 18th! Late in the week be sure to stop by as we may be checking in with a certain sentinel of liberty as well!!!

Emerald Spies and Scientists! A Green Lantern Sneak-Peek!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

We continue our tour of the galaxy courtesy of the Green Lantern Corps.  Today we begin with  neighboring sector 2813, the patrol beat of Tomar Re!

At 80 points, Tomar Re brings a great deal to any Green Lantern force.  Firstly, Tomar’s A Tour of Oa trait gives you a bonus to your roll to determine who the first player will be for each Green Lantern on your team.  Tomar’s usefulness certainly doesn’t end there as his opening dial is full of options! Running Shot allows you to get Tomar right into the action, or if you prefer you can use his Ranged Combat Expert for maximum damage.  Either way, Tomar’s 10 range will be definitely be an advantage.

Speaking of his range, Tomar Re also begins play with Barrier giving you some defensive options as well! Mid-dial Tomar switches out his Barrier for Energy Shield/Deflection and picks up Energy Explosion and Force Blast as well!

Lastly, Tomar Re is no less useful on his back-dial as he again picks up Ranged Combat Expert and Perplex towards the end of his clix.  A varied power selection and consistent combat values definitely makes Tomar Re an excellent addition to your forces!

Next up, we have a rookie ring-slinger that prefers to keep to the shadows, R’Amey Holl!

Part of the elite black ops force, the “Corpse”, R’Amey Holl is used to operating in the shadows and striking unseen.  Her opening clix of Stealth represent R’Amey’s covert skills while her early-dial Shape Change makes her more difficult to target should someone encounter her in close combat! Consider also her Super Senses and R’Amey is a challenging foe and is sure to harrass her enemies!

Mid- to late-dial R’Amey picks up Pulse Wave as she eschews the shadows for more direct confrontation with the enemies of the Green Lantern Corps.  R’Amey Holl also picks up Support on her back-dial which is always a welcome addition to any force!

At only 50 points, R’Amey Holl is a great and affordable addition any team build, but especially to Green Lantern Corps and Spy theme teams!

We hope you’ve enjoyed the latest in our Green Lantern gravity feed previews.  Friday we wrap our gravity feed sneak-peeks in time for next week, when these figures will become available for sale exclusively at Targets everywhere in the U.S. (and traditional HeroClix retailers internationally).   We will also be sure to preview the Green Lantern Fast Forces pack next week just in time for that product to go on sale as well! Until then, keep your figures off their K.O. clix!

From Sector 0000 to Sector 1414! Checking in with the Green Lanterns and the Guardians

Hello there fellow HeroClix’ers!

We continue our Green Lantern gravity feed previews with aquick tour of Sector 1414, and who better to show us around than the GL assigned to that Sector, Boodikka!

A you can see, Boodikka is a pretty potent package at only 85 points.  Phasing/Teleport throughout most of her dial allows her to manuever where she’ll do the most good while Blades/Claws/Fangs gives her some pretty good damage potential once she’s in position! She switches from melee tactics about half way through her dial in favor of ranged attacks and picks up Penetrating/Psychic Blast while trading in her Toughness for Invulnerability!  Late-dial Steal Energy allows her to potentially stay in the fight longer and the Indomitable ability throughout her dial ensures that she will go keep on swinging while enemies are standing!

With a good variety of attack powers and very consistent combat values, Boodikka is an excellent secondary attacker for any force! Pair her up with our next figure and she could be the perfect harrasser for protecting your Ganthet!

The Guardians of Oa are among the oldest and most powerful beings in the DCU, and Ganthet here does not disappoint! At 200 points, Ganthet brings a host of useful powers and demonstrates just why the Guardians are so respected.

Immunity to Outwit and the option to act without fear of pushing damage via the Quintessence team ability is just the tip of this iceberg! Like many of his Green Lanterns, Ganthet possesses Phasing/Teleport allowing him to move to where he’s most needed without the need to breakaway, and early-dial Outwit means that he’ll definitely be a concern for your opponents!

Outwit gives way to Perplex while Ganthet trades in his Impervious for InvulnerabilityGanthet retains his consistent (and aggressive) combat values throughout his dial and the ability to target up to two opposing characters from 10 squares away means that he can mix it up with the best of them without putting himself in harm’s way (the Guardians do like to affect events from a distance after all).  Late-dial Probability Control ensures Ganthet will always be able to play a role in your battles, and Super Senses will give him a chance to evade attacks altogether should your opponent manage to attack him!

We hope you’ve enjoyed today’s previews.  Be sure to check in with us on Wednesday as we continue our tour of the galaxy with Sectors 0700 and 2813! Until then, keep your figures off their K.O. clix!

Emerald Officers – Salaak and Kilowog

Hello there HeroClix Fans!

Today we continue our exploration of the Green Lantern gravity feed figures and I can’t think of anyone better to spotlight than two GL’s who have devoted themselves to the efficient and effective operation of the Corps.  Without further adieu, let’s start with Salaak!

At 100 points, Salaak is an excellent addition to your Green Lantern teams.  His consistent combat values and power selection ensure that he is useful no matter where he lands on his dial!  Pair Probability Control with Telekinesis on the early dial and Salaak is able to manuever the other Green Lanterns on your force to where they’ll do the most good, and use his Probability Control to ensure they hit!

But that’s not all! Salaak’s Probability Control eventually gives way to his Brilliant Administrator special power which allows him to use Perplex normally, or he can target everyone he shares a Keyword with so long as they’re within 10 squares and line of fire!

Energy Shield/Deflection helps to keep Salaak safe from ranged attacks for most of his clix, and he picks up both Willpower and standard Perplex on his late-dial which ensures he remains useful until the end.  However, if you want proper protection for  Salaak, we can’t think of anyone better than his peer Kilowog!

At 145 points, Kilowog brings a host of useful powers to any Green Lantern force! Aggressive combat values make Kilowog an effective fighting piece for your GL squad, and his combintion of support and offensive powers make him an incredible asset no matter who he’s fighting alongside!

As one may expect, Kilowog starts off with Charge with Super Strength so that he can get right in the thick of battle and carry an object while he’s at it.  That’s not all though! Front loaded Enhancement means that if you position just right (and Kilowog’s buddy Salaak may be useful there!) you can fire off some shots with your other Green Lanterns for added damage so long as they are adjacent to Kilowog when they do so!

Charge gives way to Kilowog’s Tough Drill Instructor special power which enables him to modify the attack value of any friendly figures sharing a keyword with him within 4 squares by +1! Combine that with the aforementioned Enhancement and Kilowog proves why he is the senior instructor of all rookie Green Lanterns!

Invulnerability and Toughness througout his entire dial keep Kilowog in the fight while Super Strength eventully gives way to Close Combat Expert.  Add in Kilowog’s Indomitable ability and no matter how you slice it, Kilowog is here for a fight and ready to dish out some hurt on behalf of the Green Lantern Corps!

That’s all we have for today, but be sure to join us oon Monday for even more Green Lantern goodnessas we check in with Sector’s 0000 and 1414! Until then, keep that emerald light shining!

Hal Jordan of Earth, You Have Been Chosen…

Hello there HeroClix Fans!

The long awaited day is upon us finally.  Today we begin our epic journey into the emerald realm of the Green Lanterns and we’re going to start with none other than Hal Jordan himself!

Hal Jordan is an accomplished test pilot and his Yeah, Ladies, I’m a Test Pilot special power helps out whenever he’s carried by a flier or flying transporter figure.  Energy Shield/Deflection keeps Hal safe from ranged attacks while late-dial Willpower demonstrates his determination.  Finally, his Alter-Ego power allows Hal Jordan to transform mid-game into none other than Green Lantern!

Green Lantern’s Alter Ego dial (what we see after the orange line)  is impressive and opens with Running Shot to get him into the battle once he transforms from Hal JordanEnergy Shield/Deflection offers some defense versus ranged attcks for the rookie ring-slinger and Ranged Combat Expert allows Green Lantern to go on the offensive!

Green Lantern is more than an Alter-Ego piece too! At 85 points Green Lantern is an excellent addition to your Green Lantern Corps teams with his opening Charge, Close Combat Expert, and Combat Reflexes for some hand-to-hand melee action.  Green Lantern switches tactics a little mid-dial and picks up Telekinesis and Barrier (via his Contain Parallax special power) and then moves into his ranged combat clix (spotlighted above in the aforementoned Alter-Ego section of the dial).  Lastly, the Indomitable ability allows Green Lantern to act without fear of pushing damage!

That’s today’s preview but be sure to join us on Friday as we check in with two respected veterans of the Green Lantern Corps; one’s an able-bodied multi-tasker and the other an expert in training new recruits and weeding out the “poozers”! Until then, keep on playing Heroclix and be sure to catch Green Lantern in theaters everywhere beginning June 17th!
