2015 DC HeroClix Convention Exclusives

Today we preview the two 2015 DC HeroClix Convention Exclusives available for sale at conventions and special events. The first place that players and fans will be able to pick up these figures will be at the WizKids U.S. National Championship Event hosted by Games & Stuff in Glen Burnie, MD on April 11-12. For more information follow this link: WizKids U.S. National Championship Event.

First up is the mystical malevolence of Felix Faust!

DC HeroClix: Felix Faust Convention Exclusive

Felix Faust has A Spell for Any Occasion (Perplex), which will allow him to modify combat values on opponents or to bolster his own or his allies’ combat values. His Mystical Portals (Phasing/Teleport) will allow him to maneuver around the battlefield while not taking pushing damage via his What Would you Sell Your Soul For? (Willpower) power.

On his attack track, Felix Faust has two powers. Shake Hands with the Devil… (Penetrating/Psychic Blast) on his top clicks will make his ranged attacks go through his opponents’ damage reduction powers. Later in his dial he goes over to … And Fire Becomes Your Friend (Poison) to deal damage to characters adjacent to him. His dial rounds out with Your Power Is Useless Against Me (Super Senses) and DisguisedAs One of Your Own (Shape Change) to help him to avoid damage from attacks.

But it is when Felix Faust opens the Necronomicon — represented by a special d20 included with his figure — that his mystical prowess really shines. At the beginning of each of his turn, he rolls a d6: on a roll of 1-4 he rolls his d20 to pull a new spell out of his spellbook; on a result of a 5-6 he chooses if he wants to roll the d20, allowing him to continue using the spell he already has prepped from his last roll of his d20.

Fear has a new name and it is Felix Faust!

The next and last of our for-sale convention exclusive figures is the cybernetic marvel of malice — the Brainiac Skull Ship!

DC HeroClix: Brainiac Skull Ship 2015 Convention Exclusive

Will the Brainiac Skull Ship take the role of an Explorer or Conqueror? The Skull Ship has two dials — Travel Mode & Attack Mode — that are played together. When in Travel Mode theSkull Ship focuses on maneuvering and longevity, with increased Speed and Defense values and powers, while the Attack Mode focuses on its offensive capabilities with increased Attack and Damage values and move and attack powers. At the beginning of the turn, players will choose which dial they want to use during the turn and whenever the dial being played changes click numbers, the other dial is clicked along with it.

DC HeroClix: Brainiac Skull Ship 2015 Convention Exclusive

The Skull Ship can be played at 200 or 100 points — and for an additional 25 points, players can choose to play the City dial. The City dial represents the Brainiac Skull Ship miniaturizing and collecting cities from throughout the galaxy to take samples from their occupants to further Brainiac’s scientific goals. If the City dial is being used, 8 City markers (included with the Skull Ship) are placed throughout the map, and during the game Brainiac Skull Ship can be given a free action to pick up an adjacent City marker. For each City marker collected, the City dial is turned as Brainiac analyzes the cities for knowledge and technology that he can use to advance his nefarious schemes — granting new powers for the Skull Ship to use as they are revealed on the City dial.

Played at 200 or 100 points and with or without the City dial, the Brainiac Skull Ship has multiple tentacles that it can use to make attacks, represented by the Tentacle dial. The CLOSE dial slot indicates how many characters the Skull Ship can attack in close combat, while the TARGET dial slot indicates how many targets the Skull Ship can choose when making a ranged combat attack. During the course of the battle, opponents can Try and Rip Off a Tentacle! As the Travel Mode and Attack Mode dials are turned to higher click numbers, the Tentacle dial is turned to match the number range in the CLICK # dial slot — progressively reducing the number of tentacles that the Skull Ship can use to make attacks.

Thank you for reading our previews of the 2015 HeroClix For-Sale Convention Exclusive figures. We look forward to seeing you this year at conventions and events being hosted throughout the world for your chance to pick up these great new HeroClix!

It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! No, It’s Superman and Superman!

Greetings WizKids Fans and Supporters!

Sometimes at a convention, you need a friend to save you from yourself.  Like telling you to take a break, or not to spend all your money on the first day, or teaming up with you in a game of HeroClix and saving you from defeat.  Our sixth and final 2012 HeroClix convention preview is Superman and Superman, who stepped in to save the day when a Crisis threatened their worlds.

The Superman and Superman dial brings the final issue of Infinite Crisis to your table top. When the Golden Age Superman, Kal-L, determines that he must work together with his Modern Age Superman, Kal-El, the end result is jaw-dropping action.

First, Doomsday is brought into the battle and together, these 2 powerhouses rush in and knock him out. Three clicks of Charge, Super Strength, Impervious, and a high damage will allow you to take on almost any bruiser one-on-one.

Next, the Supermen turned their attention to the out-of-control Superboy-Prime. Prime’s power level was dramatically increased thanks to his armor, so together, Kal-El and Kal-L pushed Prime through a red sun. This unique ability is represented in HeroClix with their special power, Through the Sun. Tear through your opponent’s team and determine which of your enemies will end up facing off against this Kryptonian duo!

Rushing through the sun exacted the ultimate price from the Golden Age Superman and weakened the Modern Age Superman, as well. Therefore, when we reach the last third of the dial, the surviving Kal-El, grief-stricken by his new comrade’s death, proceeds to ensure the universe’s safety with Prime’s defeat. For these clicks, the JSA symbol is lost and the figure possesses Earthbound/Neutralized, causing him to lose his Flight, Carry, Duo, and Indomitable abilities. Still, he does have Flurry and regains Impervious for these clicks.

Saving the best for last, is Superman and Superman’s trait, the intro-phrase known by every citizen of Metropolis – Look, Up In the Sky. These Supermen are more than just a combat-machine, they are protectors as well. Anytime a friendly character is being attacked, this figure can be repositioned and have the attack made on him. Don’t be fooled by the need to be within line of fire of the attacker – you can do that, even when the attacker is making a close combat attack. These Supermen will swoop in to save their comrades no matter how you attack them!

This figure will first be available at GenCon as a prize.  Tune in next week for more info on the tourneys and prize distribution at GenCon.

HeroClix on the Road 2012 – Venom!

Greetings WizKids Fans and Supporters!

One of the great things that HeroClix has brought me is new friends that I wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for HeroClix.  I’ve bonded with these friends over many conventions and many games of HeroClix.  It’s gotten to the point where I can’t think of conventions or HeroClix without thinking of them.  It’s like they’ve gotten into my head as another voice.  Our fifth 2012 HeroClix convention preview is Venom, who bonded with an alien symbiote and truly does have another voice in his head.

Eugene “Flash” Thompson lost his legs during the Iraq War but got a new pair when he was given the alien symbiote and became Venom.  As a New Breed of symbiote, the new Venom can use Shape Change and Stealth as a trait.  As Flash was used to fighting on the front lines, he can be Airdropped Into the Action, which allows him to gain the Flight ability and replace his speed value with a 14 movement if he begins his move action in your starting area.  Once he is on the front lines, he can use I Remember Dodging Linebackers (Running Shot) to get even further into combat.  Once into the thick of things, he can use the Heavy Artillery (Penetrating/Psychic Blast) to take out his foes before switching to Small Arms (Energy Explosion) to take on many foes at the same time all while using the Sharpshooter Ability.  If enemies decide to shoot at Venom, he can rely on Being Bulletproof Is Nice (Invulnerability) to shrug off some of the damage.

Eventually the Venom symbiote takes over and Full Symbiote Bonding (Toughness) allows Flash to shrug off still more damage.  The symbiote starts Acting On Its Instinct (Flurry) and allows Flash to Shape Its “Flesh” (Blades/Claws/Fangs) as it goes all out to take out those who stand in its way.  The symbiote protects Flash from even more damage by providing an Early Warning (Super Senses) to attacks.  If Flash has taken too much damage, then Symbiote Healing (Regeneration) kicks in so that he can return to fight again another day.

This figure will first be available at DexCon 2012  (look for our events announcement soon!) as a prize where you can play a game of HeroClix and be the hero and save the day.  Tune in on June 13th for another exciting convention preview!

HeroClix on the Road 2012 – Martian Manhunter

Greetings WizKids Fans and Supporters!

Feeling alienated?  Not exactly something that ever happens when you go to convention.  Whether it’s hanging with old friends or making new friends, you will never feel like you are alone at a convention.  It’s one of the reasons that conventions are such a great experience for players.  You get the chance to meet so many other people who share an interest in a game that you play.  Our fourth 2012 HeroClix convention preview is Martian Manhunter, who has felt alienated and alone as he was the last survivor of Mars or so he thought.

J’onn J’onzz, also known as the Martian Manhunter, arrived on earth and quickly decided to try to blend in with society.  In order to do this, he used his Mind Probe (Mind Control) to see how humans would respond to him.  Based on this knowledge, J’onn hid his true nature by concealing himself as a detective amongst us and this is represented by his My True Form Is Not Appealing to You (Shape Change).  He was also blessed with Martian Physiology which allowed him to hide in the shadows with Stealth and get wherever he needed to go with Phasing/Teleport.   His Martian heritage also gave him the ability to hurt the strongest of foes with his Martian Vision (Penetrating/Psychic Blast) and to lift the heaviest of objects with his Martian Strength (Super Strength).

After observing humanity as an outsider, Martian Manhunter finally found a home amongst the Justice League and made many friends during his time with the team.  During World War III, he told Black Adam The Time Has Come For A Reckoning (Hypersonic Speed) as they faced off in battle.  Believing That The Future Is Worth the Fight (Impervious) and that they should Stand Firm (Invulnerability), the Martian Manhunter was able to survive the battle because of his defensive powers.  Unfortunately, J’onn was killed during the Final Crisis by the Flame before being resurrected during the Blackest Night.  After his return, J’onn found out he wasn’t the last of his kind as he found another survivor of Mars but soon realized that his true place was fighting alongside the Justice League.

This figure will first be available at Gen Con as a prize.  Please join us at the convention where you can bond with old friends or new friends over a game of HeroClix.  Tune in on June 6th for another exciting 2012 Convention preview!

HeroClix On The Road 2012 – Punisher!

Greetings WizKids Games Fans and Supporters!

One of the great things about going to conventions is the chance to meet new players and also to see players again that you haven’t seen in a while.  It’s even better when you get to sit down and play a HeroClix game with them.  Better still would be to deal out a little punishment to their figures in that game and to claim a prize while doing it.  What better way to ensure that you can punish future players who would stand in your way than with our third 2012 HeroClix convention preview, the Punisher.

The Punisher, also known as Frank Castle, has lots of criminals to punish because of the death of his family by the mob, but he has also taken on other causes over the years.  When Captain America apparently died at the end of the Civil War, Punisher decided to wear a costume inspired by him.  Unfortunately, the Punisher wasn’t exactly like Captain America!  With the My Leadership Style is… Different trait, you can remove tokens from friendly characters that have KO’d opposing characters with an attack.  The Punisher can also Start in the Shadows (Stealth) so he can’t be seen by opposing characters while targeting them with his Infrared Goggles, which allows him to ignore hindering terrain for line of fire purposes, and his Sharpshooter ability, which allows him to ignore opposing characters for line of fire purposes.

If that’s not enough to deal with your opponent, the Punisher can use his High-Caliber Bullets (Penetrating/Psychic Blast) to cut through opposing characters defenses to make sure that they take the damage.  Finally, unlike Captain America, the Punisher has no qualms about killing those who have broken the law and he can charge in with his Does Cap Kill You Like…This (Charge) power to finish off the opposing characters.

This figure will first be available at Gen Con 2012 as a prize.  Just don’t alienate your friends by punishing them too much with this figure in your local HeroClix games!  Tune in on May 16th for another exciting Convention preview!

HeroClix on the Road 2012 – Dr. Fate

Greetings WizKids Fans and Supporters!

Do you sometimes feel that Fate is against you?  Often when playing HeroClix, I feel that my dice are fated to roll 1 less than the number I need to hit.  Other times, the dice are in my favor when I roll that 5 or 6 that I need to avoid a big hit with super senses.  What better way to ensure that fate is on your side then by playing with our second 2012 HeroClix convention preview, none other than Dr. Fate. (Click on image to enlarge)

Kent Nelson would have died from poison gas but fate intervened when he put on the Helmet of Nabu and became Dr. Fate.  As an Agent of Order, Dr. Fate used his powers to fight back against those who would cause chaos in the world.  The Agent of Order trait allows Dr. Fate to shut down any actions that opposing characters would take to use special powers if they are within 6 squares.  With this trait, Dr Fate forces HeroClix to return to a more orderly era when special powers were not the norm.

If the dice are against you, you can use The Cloak of Destiny (Probability Control) so that you get a second chance at making good on your attack roll or to ensure that your opponent doesn’t land an attack on Dr. Fate.  If anyone manages to damage Dr. Fate, they will take a click of unavoidable damage from his Mystic team ability.  If this isn’t enough to deter your opponent, then Dr. Fate can blast through even the toughest of defenses with his Mystic Bolt (Penetrating/Psychic Blast) power.  At just 100 points, you can build a theme team around Dr. Fate with other Mystical keyworded characters like the members of the Justice League Dark or team him up with his classic teammates from the Justice Society.

Origins Game Fair is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize but don’t worry this figure will also be available at Gen Con Indy.  With Dr. Fate on your side will you punish your opponents on your way to becoming the next HeroClix National Champion?  Tune in on May 9th for another exciting preview!

HeroClix On the Road 2012 – Apocalypse

Greetings WizKids Fans and Supporters!

Survive, that’s always the goal of another convention season because of the long days and nights.  There is always so much to do during a convention between the show floor and hanging out with friends after hours.  Or is your goal to survive the tourneys and become the HeroClix National Champion at Origins Game Fair?  Our premiere 2012 HeroClix convention preview begins with the first mutant who believes in the tenet of survival of the fittest and is none other than Apocalypse.

En Sabah Nur (as Apocalypse is otherwise known) has survived for over 5000 years by sometimes hiding in the shadows as represented by his Centuries of Waiting power (Stealth).  During this time, he has changed the course of history by plotting and scheming to get his desired outcome.  By using his Manipulate Hundreds of Generations special power, you can change the course of battle by outwitting an opponent’s defense and then making sure your attacks hit home by perplexing up your attack value.  If Apocalypse’s schemes fail him, he can Mass Increase and turn into a Colossal figure to crush any who would defy him!  Of course, Apocalypse also brings with him his Horsemen of Apocalypse and you can too if you team him with Famine, Pestilence, and War from last convention season.  Pair these figures up with the Horseman of Apocalypse ATA and regardless of how many of the Horsemen fall to your opponents, you still get your attack bonus.

Origins Game Fair is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize but don’t worry this figure will also be available at Gen Con Indy.  With Apocalypse by your side, will you be the next HeroClix National Champion?  Or will fate be against you?  Tune in next week for another exciting preview!
