HeroClix on the Road 2013: Death Mask!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

For our sixth HeroClix prize preview of the 2013 convention season, we decided to bring a version of our favorite Merc with a Mouth to the convention season.  We are pleased to present Death Mask, who is making his first appearance in HeroClix.

M-007-DeathMask Death Mask is the Wade Wilson of Earth-11638 and was saved by Dr. Reed Richards from a lethal brain tumor and thus began his illustrious career.  I’m a Genius, Thanks to Dr. Reed Richards (Outwit) allows Death Mask to have his way by turning off powers on opposing characters.  If that’s not enough, Death Mask can Manipulating the Nice Spider-Man (Probability Control) to make sure that his attacks hit home and if that doesn’t work, he can always Lying to the Nice Spider-Man (Perplex) to adjust his combat values to do the trick.  Because, really what fun isn’t had at the expense of Spider-Man if you’re Death Mask.

Like any other version of Wade Wilson, Death Mask’s I’m Wade Wilson, Too (Trait) allows him to heal himself of damage but with a unique twist where you add the roll of a d6 to his current click number to determine how much healing takes place.  If the combined result is 8 or more, heal Death Mask of 1 damage.  If the combined result is 12 or more, heal him of an additional click of damage (for a total of 2 damage healed).  What does Death Mask have that Deadpool doesn’t?  Well of course it’s a Metal Suit of Armor…And a Snazzy Cape and Tunic (Invulnerability) to help him fend off those incoming attacks.  If that’s not enough, Death Mask can pull off Operation: The Old Switcheroo (Special Power) that allows him to use Combat Reflexes and Invulnerability.  Also, if this click is revealed while turning the dial, you stop on it.  There is a drawback however in that you can’t be healed beyond this click from that point forward in the game.

Did I Ever Tell You About the Time I Created That Great Diversion? (Special Power) allows Death Mask to use Charge and Stealth but it also allows him to pester your opponent as well.  If he’s adjacent to an opposing character, then they must target Death Mask if they are making a close combat attack.  If Death Mask is within the range and line of fire of an opposing character, then he must be targeted by any ranged combat attack that character makes.  I mean with a character like Death Mask around, who would want to attack anyone else before shutting up this Merc with a Mouth.

If that’s not enough for you, Death Mask can always use that bomb he is holding with his Hey, Death Mask…CATCH! (Special Power).  Give Death Mask a ranged combat action and target a single character.  Using the new area of effect part of the action, this attack can also hit opposing characters that are adjacent to the target.  If you hit, you deal damage normally to the target and then any opposing character adjacent to the target that is hit takes damage equal to half the result of a d6 roll.  Talk about an explosive situation!

Origins Game Fair is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize and the events for Origins have already been posted on HeroClix.com so please check them out.  Tune in later this week for a list of all of the exciting events at Gen Con Indy.   Wait, did I forget something…I guess there are worse sins then forgetfulness, maybe next time for an answer to that question.

HeroClix On The Road 2013: The Bat-Mite!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

For our fifth HeroClix prize preview of the 2013 convention season, we decided to bring a little mischief to the convention season this time around because, honestly, who doesn’t enjoy a little prank every now and again?  We are pleased to present Bat-Mite, who is making his first appearance in HeroClix.

D-010-BatMite

Bat-Mite always has to have someone to idolize and his You’re My Hero (Trait) allows him to pick a friendly character once per game as his Idol.  Bat-Mite can then Let Me Help! (Special Power) with his Idol which lets him place his Idol in a square adjacent to Bat-Mite.  Like most things with Bat-Mite, it’s not that simple however.  After choosing to place the Idol, you must roll a d6 that can’t be rerolled.  On the result of a 1, things go awry and the Idol takes a click of unavoidable damage and the opponent gets to choose the square that the Idol gets place in that is adjacent to Bat-Mite.  On a 2-6, things go a bit better as you get to pick the square to be placed in and then get to make a close combat or ranged combat attack as a free action.  Once you take that free action, you can’t be given a non-free action until your next turn as there are always limitations to teaming up with Bat-Mite.

A fantastic mischief maker, Bat-Mite always has to ask Am I Bothering You? (Special Power).  This special power lets him use Incapacitate but it’s the rest of the power that truly shines.  Characters targeted by Bat-Mite with this power can’t target Bat-Mite or his Idol with an attack until your next turn.  If you continue to pick on Bat-Mite’s Idol, he’s eventually going to tell you to Quit Picking on My Hero (Incapacitate).  To make sure that Bat-Mite is able to hit home with his Incapacitate, he can always have a Do-Over (Probability Control).  If that’s not enough, he can turn off the powers of those he’s messing with because of all of the things he Learn From the Comics (Outwit).

Like any good pest however Bat-Mite knows that he will eventually wear out his welcome and will need to Get Me Out of Here! (Special Power).  This special power lets Bat-Mite avoid the big hit with Super Senses and then place him adjacent to his Idol or in any square within 6 squares and line of fire.

Origins Game Fair is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize.  Will you be able to DEfeat those who stand against you or will you mask your pain?  Tune in later this week for the next exciting preview.

HeroClix on the Road 2013: Old Man Logan!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

For our fourth HeroClix prize preview of the 2013 convention season, we decided to bring someone a little older to the convention season this time around.  This figure features the new power Invincible, (which can be found on the 2013 HeroClix Powers and Abilities Card) and is still the best there it is at what he does!  We are pleased to present Old Man Logan

 M-006-OldManLogan

Old Man Logan starts out with an old fashioned activation click because he’s traveled One Mile Down, Three Thousand to Go (Special Power).  This special power lets him use leap/climb and carry but he can’t attack.  Old Man Logan has been out of the game for a while, but once he gets going he then switches to You’re Goin’ Down, Skull (Charge) to bring the fight to his opponent.  If that’s not enough, Old Man Logan decides that there is No More Talking – No More Games (Special Power) and really gets into the fight with Charge, Flurry, Stealth, and Willpower to bring his opponents down!

Just because he’s older doesn’t mean this version of Wolverine can’t take a punch as he brings the new pink power in Avengers Security Code Bravo Two Forty (Invincible) to the table to cut the damage that he takes in half.  After picking up Captain America’s Shield (Impervious) to still keep him in the fight, he finishes up with You Gotta Be Kiddin’ (Special Power).  If Old Man Logan takes a big hit, he stops on this click and can then make an immediate close combat attack with Blades/Claws/Fangs.  If this attack deals less than 3 damage, then Old Man Logan is KO’d but at least he went down fighting.  If this all isn’t enough, Old Man Logan has a Healing Factor Might Not Be What It Used to Be (Trait) that allows you to heal him of 1 damage at the beginning of your turn if he’s on an odd-numbered click.

During his fight with President Skull, Old Man Logan found his way into the President Skull’s Trophy Room (Trait).  With this trait, you can bring a relic from outside the game and place it on his character card as long as it is equal or lower points than the relic that he currently possesses.  Once you have a relic on Old Man Logan that you like, you can then cause the Death of a President (Exploit Weakness) to finish the fight.

Gen Con Indy is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize. Tune in next week as we reveal the figures for Origins Game Fair.  Do you have what it takes to BAttle your way to the top or might you fall before your opponents?

HeroClix on the Road 2013: Superman and Wonder Woman

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

For our third HeroClix prize preview of the 2013 convention season, we decided to bring a little romance to the convention season in the form of Superman and Wonder Woman.  This duo brings also features the new power, Invincible, which can be found on the 2013 HeroClix Powers and Abilities Card.

D-009-Superman_WWWhat could possibly be better than having Superman or Wonder Woman on your team? Why, having them together on the same dial as a duo figure of course!  Superman and Wonder Woman bring the Strength of Two Heroes (Trait) to the table where they can use Super Strength to pick up 2 separate objects to use in different attacks that they make with the duo combat ability.  The trait also allows them to use Charge in place of one of the attacks if they need to get in close to the opponent.

If Superman and Wonder Woman are too far away to charge, they can always use the Nowhere to Hide (Running Shot) to shoot the opponent with their Power from a Distance (Penetrating/Psychic Blast) to crack through an opponent’s defense.  If that’s not enough, the Man of Steel & Princess of Themyscira  special power allows them to use Improved Movement Blocking (Burst) & Characters to charge through walls to attack their opponent.  Plus, they have limited protection from Outwit (because, really, how could you Outwit both Superman and Wonder Woman easily?)

This duo is also hard to hurt as they have the power of Kryptonians… (Impervious) …and Amazons (Invincible) to reduce the damage to them with Invincible allowing them to ignore half of the damage dealt to them.  Even at the end of their dial, Superman and Wonder Woman are Faster than a Speeding Bullet & Bulletproof Bracelets (Special Power) as they can use Energy Shield/Deflection, Super Senses, and Toughness to protect them from harm.

Teamwork is also a hallmark of Superman and Wonder Woman in the Wrapped Up & Knocked Out (Special Power) as they can use Incapacitate and still deal their printed damage value to the successfully hit targets.  Use this power at range and you can incapacitate 2 targets while still dealing your printed damage value.  Finally, opponents have nowhere to hide as this duo figure has the Superman Ally team ability and also represents teamwork with the Justice League team ability.

Gen Con Indy is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize. Tune in later this week as we still have a long way to go, and all we do is get older waiting for convention season to start.

HeroClix on the Road 2013: Gentleman Ghost

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

For our second HeroClix prize preview of the 2013 convention season, we decided to get into the spirit of things; Gentleman Ghost again makes his appearance in HeroClix and brings along with him one of the new pink powers found on the 2013 HeroClix Powers and Abilities Card in Precision Shot.

D-011-GentlemanGhost

James Craddock was a highwayman and robber in England who was lynched but his spirit rose again as the Gentleman Ghost.  Thanks to his new form, Gentleman Ghost could raise Vengeful Ghosts (Trait) to strike back against those who would hurt him.  Thanks to this Trait, Gentleman Ghost is able to bring Vengeful Ghost bystander tokens onto the battlefield to tie up your opponents or to attack them with Exploit Weakness.  The Vengeful Ghost bystander can also maneuver freely thanks to Phase/Teleport (when was the last time you saw a ghost stopped by a wall?) while Super Senses represents its more incorporeal nature.

Like any good (or should we say evil?) shade, Gentleman Ghost’s Invisible, Intangible (Special Power) to hide in the shadows using Stealth and then move using Phasing/Teleport to get anywhere you need to go.  And if someone is foolish enough to let Gentleman Ghost get close, he can use his Chilling Touch (Precision Strike) to attack those who might normally evade his attack or mastermind the damage on to others.

If that’s not enough, thanks to I’ve Seen the Beyond (Outwit), Gentleman Ghost can counter powers that would cause him trouble.  Over time, this Ghost has Learned a Few Tricks (Perplex) to help him adjust his combat values to the fight but if all else fails; he can shoot it out with his Flintlock Pistols (Ranged Combat Expert).

Finally, since his spirit can never truly rest, Gentleman Ghost is Indomitable and will come back to haunt those who attack him with his Mystics team ability.

Gen Con Indy is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize.  Tune in later this week as we see that romance is in the air during this convention season.

On the Road: Obnoxio the Clown!

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

As our very first preview of the 2013 convention season, we decided to not “clown” around (sorry, too easy to not make that joke).  Obnoxio the Clown makes his first appearance in HeroClix and brings along two of the new pink powers from the 2013 HeroClix Powers and Abilities Card (PAC), Sidestep and Precision Shot.  Let’s take a closer look at what Obnoxio the Clown tick:

M-008-ObnoxioTheClown

What clown would not have his Trusty Old Seltzer Bottle (Precision Strike) at the ready to take down those who would stop his fun?  Whether it’s to hit that character who has Super Senses or to target a character with Mastermind, you’ll get plenty of use out of this power.

Everyone knows that a clown is your best friend but not so with Obnoxio the Clown;  with his So Much For “Friends” (Sidestep), this clown is always ready to move into the action or out of it depending on what you decide to do.  And what clown would be complete without a Bag of Tricks? This Trait allows Obnoxio the Clown to bounce around his dial whenever you give a friendly character a power action or you try to heal him! Talk about unpredictable and entertaining!

Obnoxio the Clown’s second Trait, Professional Mascot, allows him to seamlessly join any team since he doesn’t count for or against your theme team build!  Professional Mascot also allows Obnoxio the Clown to copy team abilities as your mascot as well.

Obnoxio the Clown is no push over either, thanks to his Don’t Bend the Merchandise (Invulnerability) and Broke My Funny Bone! (Toughness).  If that’s not enough, this Clown can change on the fly with his Hand Buzzer (Perplex) or deal out some damage with Goodnight, Nurse! (Blades/Claws/Fangs) power.  If the going gets tough for this clown, he can always Figger a Way Outta Here (Leap/Climb).

Gen Con Indy is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize.  Now that we are beginning to get into the spirit of the convention season, we’ll have many more previews for you in the coming weeks.  Tune in next week for another exciting preview!
