Greetings HeroClix Fans!
For our sixth HeroClix prize preview of the 2013 convention season, we decided to bring a version of our favorite Merc with a Mouth to the convention season. We are pleased to present Death Mask, who is making his first appearance in HeroClix.
Death Mask is the Wade Wilson of Earth-11638 and was saved by Dr. Reed Richards from a lethal brain tumor and thus began his illustrious career. I’m a Genius, Thanks to Dr. Reed Richards (Outwit) allows Death Mask to have his way by turning off powers on opposing characters. If that’s not enough, Death Mask can Manipulating the Nice Spider-Man (Probability Control) to make sure that his attacks hit home and if that doesn’t work, he can always Lying to the Nice Spider-Man (Perplex) to adjust his combat values to do the trick. Because, really what fun isn’t had at the expense of Spider-Man if you’re Death Mask.
Like any other version of Wade Wilson, Death Mask’s I’m Wade Wilson, Too (Trait) allows him to heal himself of damage but with a unique twist where you add the roll of a d6 to his current click number to determine how much healing takes place. If the combined result is 8 or more, heal Death Mask of 1 damage. If the combined result is 12 or more, heal him of an additional click of damage (for a total of 2 damage healed). What does Death Mask have that Deadpool doesn’t? Well of course it’s a Metal Suit of Armor…And a Snazzy Cape and Tunic (Invulnerability) to help him fend off those incoming attacks. If that’s not enough, Death Mask can pull off Operation: The Old Switcheroo (Special Power) that allows him to use Combat Reflexes and Invulnerability. Also, if this click is revealed while turning the dial, you stop on it. There is a drawback however in that you can’t be healed beyond this click from that point forward in the game.
Did I Ever Tell You About the Time I Created That Great Diversion? (Special Power) allows Death Mask to use Charge and Stealth but it also allows him to pester your opponent as well. If he’s adjacent to an opposing character, then they must target Death Mask if they are making a close combat attack. If Death Mask is within the range and line of fire of an opposing character, then he must be targeted by any ranged combat attack that character makes. I mean with a character like Death Mask around, who would want to attack anyone else before shutting up this Merc with a Mouth.
If that’s not enough for you, Death Mask can always use that bomb he is holding with his Hey, Death Mask…CATCH! (Special Power). Give Death Mask a ranged combat action and target a single character. Using the new area of effect part of the action, this attack can also hit opposing characters that are adjacent to the target. If you hit, you deal damage normally to the target and then any opposing character adjacent to the target that is hit takes damage equal to half the result of a d6 roll. Talk about an explosive situation!
Origins Game Fair is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize and the events for Origins have already been posted on HeroClix.com so please check them out. Tune in later this week for a list of all of the exciting events at Gen Con Indy.
