Marvel HeroClix: Spirit of Vengeance Red Hulk Con Exclusive

Greetings HeroClix fans!

Continuing our introductions of the Convention Exclusives that will be available for you to win in February during the Winter 2017 WizKids Open, we have the most epic combination of super hero powers in one flame fueled package; the Spirit of Vengeance Red Hulk!

Marvel HeroClix: Spirit of Vengeance Red Hulk Con Exclusive

This big beautiful behemoth is what happens when Flash Thompson and Alejandra Blaze pass their super power granting possessions, the Venom Symbiote and the Spirit of Vengeance respectively, onto General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross to combine with his alter ego, The Red Hulk. This combo comes together to take on Mephisto’s son, Blackheart, before he spreads his homeland to Earth from his operation in Las Vegas. So be careful not to kick the tires as we take this thing for a spin!

Spirit of Vengeance Red Hulk has two point values to choose from, 250 and 200, so with either choice he will take up the majority of your team in the usual 300-point format.  Before getting to the dial, we can see he has the Mystics team ability to vengefully bite back when he takes a hit, the Alien Symbiote trait granting him Plasticity and Shape Change, in addition to automatically breaking away from opposing characters.  He has Improved Movement that ignores elevated and hindering terrain and character bases so walls and blocking terrain are the only thing that can get in his way when placing his two square long base.  For keywords he has Circle of Four, Brute, Monster, and Mystical encapsulating the aspects of his three sources of power.  He has no range value so you have to get close to hit; not a problem for this guy, and he also has Indomitable to ignore pushing damage so you get the most out of his hefty dial.

Speaking of, starting at 250 points you get 3 clicks of Charge, Super Strength and Invincible with high numbers in all of his combat values to get the game going in the right gear for your.  On click #4, where Spirit of Vengeance Red Hulk starts if you play him at 200 points, he has Hypersonic Speed, Impervious, and a special power on attack called Flaming Webbing that gives him a range value of 5 and two targets.  Also when he hits with a ranged attack, instead of normal damage, each hit character gets an action token and 1 penetrating damage.  For his last four clicks, he finishes off extra angry and extra crispy with Flurry, Poison, Invulnerability, and a damage special Feel Ourr Penance Punch, Punnk!  that deals extra penetrating damage equal to the number of action tokens on a hit character after actions resolve.   Remember he has Plasticity as a trait so that Poison can be really devastating with the two square sized base if you park the bike in the right place.  If all of this alien infused, mystical feuled, gamma and cosmic ray bombarded dial isn’t enough for you, just look at that sculpt!

Marvel HeroClix: Captain America Con Exclusive

Greetings HeroClix fans!

We’ve been spoiling sneak peaks at the Convention Exclusives that will be available for you to win in February during the Winter 2017 WizKids Open.  Today, we are taking a trip down one of Marvel Comics’ possible dystopian futures with Captain America from the Earth X limited series!

Though still in peak physical condition the Captain America from Earth X is showing his age.  This kid from Brooklyn has grown up to be 100 years old and still fighting!  After killing the Red Skull in battle he resigns from the Avengers; feeling unfit for duty, but soon returns from retirement and gathers new recruits to battle the army of a young Skull who invades New York City.

Marvel HeroClix: Captain America Con Exclusive

Bringing this alternate reality Captain America to your table will cost you 65 points, giving you a lot for such an economical point value.  In addition to the S.H.I.E.L.D. and Soldier keywords he is the first character in HeroClix history to have the Earth X keyword.  He has two traits to help lead your team to victory.  First, I’ll Help You Break Free Of The Skull’s Control prevents himself from being the target of Mind Control and prevents him from being knocked back.  Also, friendly characters modify their defense values by +2 when targeted by Mind Control.  With his second trait, Preparing For War, you may choose to have Captain America do no damage when he hits a character that is equipped with an object to place that object on his own card.  At the beginning of your turn you may equip any item on your card that you’ve gathered from this trait, switching it out for any other item you’ve already equipped with this trait. Basically, Captain America can take objects equipped as items on opposing characters, store them on his card, and every turn he can choose to equip a different one without discarding the others.

Going to his dial, we see Cap is still the natural leader he has always been, leading from the front line.  With Running Shot, Energy Shield/Deflection, and a range value of 5 he can get into attack range fairly quickly and can be a serious threat with his attack value of 11 and Indomitable to ignore pushing damage.  Even when he is in the thick of the battle he is still able to motivate his team to fight their hardest.  His special damage power, The Leader We Need, lets him use Leadership but the dice roll cannot be re-rolled and when he succeeds at the roll, you may remove an action token from any number of friendly characters regardless of adjacency or point value, as long as their total point value together does not go over 150.  Once Captain America takes a few clicks of damage he gains a few slots of Precision Strike and late dial he switches to a close combat focus picking up Charge, Combat Reflexes, and Exploit Weakness.

Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Gwen Con Exclusive

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Let’s continue our look at the limited edition Convention Exclusive figures that will be available for you to win during the Winter 2017 WizKids Open, starting in February.  For today’s Marvel HeroClix Convention Exclusive Prize sneak peek, we throw feudal Japan into a blender with a version of Gwen Stacy who gained the agility and proportionate strength of the radioactive spider that bit her.  Bow to the honorable samurai known as Spider-Gwen!

Marvel HeroClix: Spider-Gwen Con Exclusive

On fleek in her white samurai armor and with her trusty pink katana by her side, Spider-Gwen can be added to your force for 65 points and is a viable secondary close attacker who can potentially cut down the toughest of foes.  If themed play is your thing, Spider-Gwen has the Spider-Man Family, Armor and Warrior keywords as options for you to build around.  Spider-Gwen has the standard speed, attack, defense and damage symbols and begins play with a trait called I Can Still Hear Through The Helmet, which allows her to use Combat Reflexes and Super Senses.

Moving to Spider-Gwen’s dial, she has only one special power but boy is it a fun one!  With Super Sword Swinging Chop!, Spider-Gwen can use Blades/Claws/Fangs and when she hits, she can use Sidestep and Improved Movement to move through characters and blocking terrain, plus destroy any blocking terrain as she moves through it this turn.  Want to chase down that pesky ninja hiding behind the hill?  Take a swing at whoever is blocking your path, then use Sidestep to move through that blocking terrain and get in his ugly face!  Spider-Gwen also has regular Blades/Claws/Fangs following Super Sword Swinging Chop!, making her a character your opponent wouldn’t dare ignore due to her potential damage output on each of her five clicks.  Spider-Gwen’s lack of a printed range value means you’ll be up close when fighting.  Thankfully, landing attacks on Spider-Gwen won’t be easy because of her trait, and her dial includes Invulnerability and Toughness to help absorb any damage that manages to get through.

Thanks for reading!  Again, Spider-Gwen will be available at the 2017 Winter WizKids Open events so visit the WizKids Info Network to register for an event near you!  Until next time, may all your Blades/Claws/Fangs rolls be sixes!

Marvel HeroClix: Pym Pocket Tank & Pym Particle Tank Con Exclusives

Greetings, HeroClix fans! It’s that time again, time to look at some exciting previews of upcoming 2017 Convention Exclusive figures from the Winter WizKids Open events! Today we’ll have a look at two things that go together like peanut butter and chocolate – the Pym Pocket Tank and the Pym Particle Tank!

Marvel HeroClix: Pym Pocket Tank Con Exclusive

First, lets look at the smaller of the two, the Pym Pocket Tank. This is a very simple dial to take in – 1 click of life, with the only standard power of Toughness to worry about. But we need to take a closer look at it’s three traits before we dismiss it. First, we have the trait, Personal Craft: Pym, which states that a themed team may include the Pym Pocket Tank, and is still a themed team, as long as a character named Ant-Man, Giant-Man, or Hank Pym is on your force. Next is Just a Keyring, which states that the Pym Pocket Tank must begin the game placed adjacent to a friendly character. And, when an adjacent friendly character moves, and actions resolve, you may place the Pym Pocket Tank adjacent to that character. Its final trait is called, That Can Return to its Original Size, and states that when an adjacent friendly character attacks an opposing character, the attacker may choose to modify its attack value by -1. If they do, and they hit, you then replace the Pym Pocket Tank with the #MP17-006a Pym Particle Tank on it’s orange starting line, with one of its squares being adjacent to the target. And, if the attacking character is named Ant-Man, Giant-Man, or Hank Pym, you would use the yellow starting line instead. Finally, when replacing this character, you may ignore characters and blocking terrain when placing it, and destroy any in squares it’s placed into. Any characters in squares it would be placed into are placed adjacent to it, and are dealt 2 penetrating damage.

Marvel HeroClix: Pym Particle Tank Con Exclusive

That brings us to the Pym Particle Tank, which follows the standard Vehicle ruleset, which you can read more in detail about on the character card pictured above. First, we’re going to look at the piloted Pym Particle Tank. This vehicle can carry up to 3 characters, and can be played at 150, 100, or 50 point values. Taking a look at its traits, we have the return of Personal Craft: Pym, which states that a themed team may include the Pym Particle Tank, and is still a themed team as long as a character named Ant-Man, Giant-Man, or Hank Pym is on your force. Next, we have the trait, Enclosed Armor, which states that the Pym Particle Tank’s defense powers can’t be countered. Additionally, the Pym Particle Tank can’t attack adjacent characters, except via Ram. And the Pym Particle Tank can’t use the pilot attack actions. Finally, it’s last trait is the aforementioned Ram. This states that you may give the Pym Particle Tank a move action using Improved Movement – Ignores Characters, and move along a direct path. After actions resolve, make a close attack targeting all opposing characters whose squares were moved through. Each hit character is dealt Pym Particle Tank’s printed damage value, and then deal Pym Particle Tank 1 unavoidable damage for each 100 points of all hit characters combined point values.

The piloted version of the tank also has a wide array of powers to support its traits. First, it has a special power called High-Explosive Incendiary, which states that when Pym Particle Tank misses with a range attack, after actions resolve, deal 1 damage to the target and all characters adjacent to the target. Along with that special power, Pym Particle Tank also possesses Sidestep, Energy Explosion, Invincible, Impervious, Invulnerability, Toughness, Ranged Combat Expert, and Enhancement.

The Autopilot Pym Particle Tank has 7 clicks of life, and can be played at 100 points. It also possesses the Personal Craft: Pym special power, which states that a themed team may include the Autopilot Pym Particle Tank, and is still a themed team as long as a character named Ant-Man, Giant-Man, or Hank Pym is on your force. It also has the standard Autopilot trait for vehicles, which as a refresher states that the vehicle may be given actions without a pilot, but when it doesn’t have a pilot and makes an attack, after actions resolve the vehicle is dealt 1 unavoidable damage. The final trait is called There’s a Tiny Remote on My Keychain, which states that Autopilot Pym Particle Tank can’t have a pilot. With those traits, you also get the standard powers Sidestep, Invincible, Impervious, Invulnerability, and Regeneration.

And that concludes today’s look at the Pym Tank Convention Exclusives! If you’re interested, be sure to search for a 2017 Winter WizKids Open event and register soon on the WizKids Info Network! Happy holidays from all of us here at WizKids, to all of you!

Marvel HeroClix: Giant-Man Con Exclusive

Greetings, HeroClix fans! Welcome to another peek into the future, as we take a gander at one of the upcoming 2017 Winter WizKids Open Convention Exclusive Figures. Today, we’ve got the sometimes pint-sized, but this time giant-sized, Hank Pym, Giant-Man!

Giant-Man is a Colossal-sized figure, meaning he has access to Great Size, Giant Reach: 3, and Colossal Stamina. These abilities give him several effects starting with Improved Movement – Ignores Elevated, Hindering, and Outdoor Blocking Terrain, and he may move though squares adjacent to or occupied by opposing characters. He can attack characters up to 3 squares away with close attacks with Giant Reach, and Colossal Stamina allows him to be given a non-free action if he has two action tokens, but he will take 1 unavoidable damage, and won’t be able to clear action tokens after that round. He is also able to Carry characters that are a smaller in size than he is, which can be useful for positioning your force.

Marvel HeroClix: Giant-Man Con Exclusive

So – we’ve covered his size, now let’s take a closer look at Giant-Man’s card and dial. First thing’s first, at 19 clicks of life with his full value, Giant-Man is built to last. He’s also Indomitable, which means you can push him normally without taking any pushing damage. He’s playable at three point values of 200, 125, and 15, giving you options for having the big guy on your team. And then comes the bevy of standard powers – Charge, Sidestep, Quake, Super Strength, Toughness, Combat Reflexes, Super Senses, Outwit, Exploit Weakness, and Perplex. Truly, Giant-Man is a marvel, and that’s before we even start to look at his special powers!

The first special power you’ll encounter on Giant-Man’s dial at his full point value is a special defensive power, Your Bullets Are Like Pebbles. This power states that Giant-Man can use both Energy Shield/Deflection and Toughness – meaning that from range on his top dial, he’s has a 21 defense! The next special power you’ll encounter on Giant-Man’s dial appears on his attack line, called They Fall Like Dominoes… This power states that Giant-Man can use Quake, and when he does, he can use Giant Reach: X, where X is his current click number!

Lastly, we look at the two special powers appearing on his final click of life, Colossal Indifference and Colossal Retaliation: Wing Sweep. Colossal Indifference is a STOP click, and states that if Giant-Man began the game on the 15-point starting line, he can’t attack smaller characters, except via Colossal Retaliation. Colossal Retaliation states that you can give Giant-Man a free action if no other Colossal Retaliation power has been activated this turn, and choose an opposing character that attacked Giant Man or a damaged friendly character since your last turn. Then, place Giant-Man such that he can make a close attack targeting the chosen character, and he targets all other characters within 3 squares and line of fire as well. Hit characters are each dealt 3 damage instead of normal damage, and hit characters without the Flight movement symbol are knocked back.

There you have it! In all his colossal glory, Giant-Man will be available at the 2017 Winter WKO events. Be sure to register soon on the WizKids Info Network and find an event in your area! Keep a look out on HeroClix.com for more previews including Giant-Man’s Pym Pocket Tank and Pym Particle Tank! Until next time, may your days be merry and bright!

TMNT HeroClix: Pizza Face Con Exclusive

Greetings, HeroClix fans! One of the best parts about getting to develop for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles license is the truly unique and imaginative characters we get to translate into HeroClix. And, truly, none are more unique or imaginative than the Winter WizKids Open Convention Exclusive Figure of Pizza Face!

Pizza Face is a 60-point figure with 6 clicks of life, and for that small purchase cost you’re getting a major return on investment. Right off the bat, you need to take a look at his trait, Living Pizzas. This trait states that at the beginning of your first turn, choose an opponent. Then, place a Living Pizza bystander adjacent to your starting area for each non-bystander character that opponent has on the map – instant team increase! And those anthropomorphic pies are nothing to ignore, either, with Plasticity, Poison, and Support to offer, they’re able to both deep-dish out the damage as well as offer healing to the rest of your team!

TMNT HeroClix: Pizza Face Con Exclusive

That’s not to say that Pizza Face is a one-topping character, though – no, this pie goes supreme! On top of that killer trait, he has a special power which appears on his middle four clicks of movement called Pizza Zombies. This trait states that Pizza Face can use Mind Control as if he had a range of 8 squares. When he does, you can choose to modify Pizza Face’s attack by +3 however, if you do, after actions resolve, the hit target is healed of 1 click. Alongside that special power are a bevy of standard powers that round out his dial – Sidestep, Steal Energy, Willpower, Energy Shield/Deflection, Toughness, Empower, and Exploit Weakness.

Pizza Face can be played on TMNT Villain themed teams, so start considering the possibilities of this cheesy ne’er do well on your already formidable band of bad guys. As mentioned earlier, Pizza Face will be available at the 2017 Winter WizKids Open events, so be sure to log into the WizKids Info Network ASAP to search and register for an event in your area! Until next time, Booyakasha!

DC HeroClix: Bat-Knight Con Exclusive

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

We previously gave you a quick look at some of the Convention Exclusives that will be available for you to win in February during the Winter 2017 WizKids Open.  Today, we take a closer look at the DC HeroClix Convention Exclusive Prize, the Bat-Knight!

The robotic Bat-Knight was built by an elder Bruce Wayne to keep Gotham City under control and can be added to your force for 60 points.  Bat-Knight has the Wing combat symbol, which allows it to carry teammates.  Bat-Knight is Indomitable (so don’t worry about pushing!), and is also a Giant, which lets him use the Great Size and Giant Reach abilities.  Finally, Bat-Knight has both the Kingdom Come and Batman Ally team abilities.

DC HeroClix: Bat-Knight Con Exclusive

Bat-Knight hits the battlefield with two traits, one of which has previously appeared on characters with the Kingdom Come team ability.  The first trait, We Will Make Things Right Again, prevents Bat-Knight’s combat values from being modified or countered by characters without the Kingdom Come team ability.  The second trait, Ultimate Batmobile, lets Bat-Knight use the Ram ability to run down its foes and deal them damage (and possibly take damage itself).

Moving to Bat-Knight’s five-click dial, it features solid combat values, particularly in the attack track, and starts as a viable attacker that can shoot two targets up to eight squares away.  Two opening clicks of Precision Strike makes sure any hit targets will take at least 1 damage while Sidestep adds an extra two squares of movement.  On the back half of Bat-Knight’s dial, it switches from beating down Gotham City’s criminal element to apprehending it through the use of Plasticity and Incapacitate.

Bat-Knight has the Batman Family, Gotham City, Future and Robot keywords as options for themed play.  Bat-Knight makes for a worthwhile secondary attacker that should find its way on many a team.  If you’re among the lucky players who manage to win two Bat-Knights at the Winter 2017 WizKids Open and also possess the chase Batman (#062) from the DC HeroClix: World’s Finest set, then you’ve got the core of a fun 300-point force straight from the pages of the Kingdom Come series.

DC HeroClix: The Joker's Wild! Strategy Article

DC HeroClix: The Joker’s Wild! – Batman Enemies

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

For today’s team-building exercise, we bring you a quartet of Batman’s most dangerous foes from the DC HeroClix: The Joker’s Wild! set.  Since the Caped Crusader has such a large roster of villains, we’ll focus on the Knightfall storyline and head to Arkham Asylum to form a team of notable offenders.

Here’s our lineup of Batman Enemies, as part of a Gotham City Underworld keyword themed team:

105         Bane

50            Killer Croc

65            Two-Face

75            Firefly

295 total points

+4 to Initiative Map Roll, 3 uses of Theme Team Probability Control

Let’s start with Bane.

DC HeroClix: The Joker's Wild - Batman Enemies - Bane

As part of a dastardly scheme to break Batman’s body and spirit, Bane freed all the occupants at Arkham Asylum, forcing the Dark Knight through a gauntlet to recapture each inmate.  Bane’s long dial features only one standard power, Charge, on each click but he also has a solid set of combat values and a pair of traits that make him a dangerous piece.  Bane also has the Batman Enemy team ability, which lets him share his attack value with a friendly character using the same team ability.

The Batman Enemy team ability is the focus of Bane’s first trait, This Is How I Deal With the Bat, which lets him boost a character’s attack value by +1 for a close attack if they use the team ability to borrow Bane’s attack number.  The second trait, Venom Pump, lets Bane increase his attack and damage values and decrease the damage dealt to him according to the number of Venom tokens he uses.  But using Venom Pump has its drawbacks, so at the start of your turn, Bane is dealt unavoidable damage equal to the number of Venom tokens he’s removed.  Bane’s long dial and sturdy combat numbers, coupled with his traits, make him a viable ideal primary attacker.  You’ll want to choose Bane’s targets carefully, as the lack of defensive powers and the damage he’s dealt from his Venom Pump trait can quickly move him through his dial.

DC HeroClix: The Joker's Wild - Batman Enemies - Killer Croc

Next up is Killer Croc, who tussled with Bane in the sewers beneath Gotham City as payback for an earlier attack.  Unlike Bane, Killer Croc’s shorter dial features several standard powers (Charge, Sidestep, Blades/Claws/Fangs, and Toughness) along with a variant of the This Is How I Deal With the Bat, which provides a +2 attack value boost for close attacks against targets in water terrain.  Killer Croc’s power layout sees his potential damage output increase the deeper he gets into his dial.  At only 50 points, Killer Croc makes an interesting tag-team partner for Bane, particularly if you’re battling on a map that has water terrain, since he has the Swimmer speed symbol.

The Arkham Asylum breakout sees Batman working alone to corral the inmates and it furthers tension between him and Robin, who questions his necessity as the Caped Crusader’s sidekick.  After Bane breaks the Dark Knight’s back, Robin remembers how he saved Batman several weeks earlier from our next Batman Enemies team member, Two-Face.

DC HeroClix: The Joker's Wild - Batman Enemies - Two-Face

Two-Face’s duality is well represented in his dial, which features click numbers in red and blue that you can switch between by means of a trait called A Change Will Do Me GoodTwo-Face has a second trait called Flip A Two-Headed Coin, which lets him use Probability Control regardless of range or line of fire, but only for attack rolls and only if one of the dice results is a 2.  Two-Face’s dial also features a single special power called Double-Barreled Shotgun, which lets him use Energy Explosion with 2 targets.  Additionally, hit characters drop their combat values by -1 until your next turn.  Two-Face is an interesting ranged attacker if you get him on his blue click numbers, thanks to the opening combination of Running Shot and Double-Barreled Shotgun and mid-dial access to Ranged Combat Expert.  On his red numbers, Two-Face plays a protective role with an opening click of Defend and a defense value of 18 and Support on his last two clicks.

Our final team member is Firefly, who spent his brief freedom from Arkham Asylum incinerating the places in Gotham City that he couldn’t visit as a child, before Batman apprehended him.  Firefly’s dial is highlighted by a special power called Napalm, which lets him use Energy Explosion.  Additionally, when he hits with a ranged attack, he can give one of the hit characters a Fire marker that deals penetrating damage at the start of that character’s turns.  Firefly is best used initially to run-and-gun groups of enemies while carrying his teammates where they’re needed.  If you’ve hit an opponent with Napalm, you may find it advantageous to keep Killer Croc nearby to intercept that character if it heads toward water terrain to remove the Fire marker.

DC HeroClix: The Joker's Wild - Batman Enemies - Firefly

All the members of our force have the Batman Enemy team ability so you’ll want to find ways to stay together and share your attack values.  Our force has a balance of close and ranged attackers, with the latter group having the ability to scatter damage to multiple targets with Energy Explosion.  Admittedly, mobility may be an issue as Firefly is the only team member who can carry others.

Thanks for reading our Batman Enemies Team Building Article!  Join us again as we bring you more fun team builds and in-depth strategies from the DC HeroClix: The Joker‘s Wild! set!  Until next time, play more HeroClix and remember to visit the WizKids Info Network to find events near you!

DC HeroClix: The Joker’s Wild! – Suicide Squad Team Building

Greetings HeroClix Fans!

Today’s exercise in team building and strategy takes the hashtag #squadgoals to a different level since our squad features some of the worst heroes ever from the DC HeroClix: The Joker’s Wild! set.  From Belle Reve Penitentiary, make way for the Suicide Squad and its no-nonsense, tough-as-nails director, Amanda Waller!

Today’s theme team utilizes the Suicide Squad keyword and comes in just under 300 points.  Our Squad features four characters from The Joker’s Wild! set – one of whom makes his HeroClix debut – as well as a character from the DC HeroClix: The Rogues Fast Forces Pack.

Here’s today’s lineup:

25            Amanda Waller

60            Colonel Rick Flag, Jr.

60            Bronze Tiger

75            Deadshot

75            Captain Boomerang

295 total points

+5 to Initiative Map Roll, 3 uses of Theme Team Probability Control

Let’s start with Amanda Waller.

DC HeroClix: The Joker's Wild! - Suicide Squad - Amanda Waller

Working covertly as the Suicide Squad’s director, Amanda Waller’s dial features two appropriate standard powers, Stealth and LeadershipAmanda Waller also has the Suicide Squad team ability, which lets a character using it potentially heal some damage when an adjacent teammate is KO’d.  However, the Suicide Squad team ability gets an upgrade, thanks to Amanda Waller’s There Is No Squad Without The Wall trait, which lets teammates using the team ability heal when a friendly character is KO’d anywhere on the map.  With her short dial and low combat values, Amanda Waller’s mission on this force is to stay out of trouble so that the rest of the team can benefit from There Is No Squad Without The Wall.

DC HeroClix: The Joker's Wild! - Suicide Squad - Colonel Rick Flag Jr.

Our next Suicide Squad member is the team’s field leader, Colonel Rick Flag, Jr., who makes his HeroClix debut in The Joker‘s Wild! set.  Smart positioning is key for Colonel Rick Flag, Jr. since his trait, Squad, On My Position, boosts his defense value by 1 for each adjacent teammate that shares either his Suicide Squad or Soldier keywords.  To get Colonel Rick Flag, Jr. next to his teammates, his dial starts with a click of Running Shot and ends with two clicks of SidestepPrecision Strike, Willpower and Ranged Combat Expert round out the rest of Colonel Rick Flag, Jr.’s standard powers.

Another mainstay of the Suicide Squad, Bronze Tiger is second-in-command to Colonel Rick Flag, Jr. and also served as the group’s mission leader.  Bronze Tiger makes a long-awaited return to HeroClix, having last been seen in the DC HeroClix: Justice League set.

DC HeroClix: The Joker's Wild! - Suicide Squad - Bronze Tiger

As one of the DC Universe’s most feared martial artists, Bronze Tiger is our squad’s primary close attacker.  Bronze Tiger’s speed special power, Master Martial Artist, keeps him mobile with Charge and Sidestep while Flurry lets him dish out an extra attack.  If that’s not enough, Bronze Tiger’s offensive powers also include Precision Strike and Blades/Claws/Fangs, both of which are usable with Master Martial Artist.

DC HeroClix: The Joker's Wild! - Suicide Squad - Deadshot

With Bronze Tiger as our squad’s go-to close attacker, Deadshot comes in as the team’s top ranged threat.  Deadshot has an optional trait called Contract Killer that costs 5 points.  Contract Killer lets you include Deadshot on a themed force if it also includes a character whose point value is greater than 80.  If there isn’t such a character, Deadshot’s combat values are modified by -1.  For our squad, Contract Killer won’t be needed since none of his teammates have a point value greater than 75.

Both Amanda Waller and Colonel Rick Flag, Jr. can shoot one target up to five squares away, while Deadshot’s range is nine squares.  Ranged Combat Expert and Running Shot are Deadshot’s main offensive powers, with an opening click of Stealth available as he prepares to set up his shot and two ending clicks of Sidestep to run-and-gun or maneuver out of opposing lines of fire.  Deadshot’s mobility makes him a viable teammate for Colonel Rick Flag, Jr., who’ll want to stay close to benefit defensively from his Squad, On My Position trait.

DC HeroClix: The Rogues Fast Forces Pack - Suicide Squad - Deadshot

Our squad’s last member, Captain Boomerang, comes from the DC HeroClix: The Rogues Fast Forces pack and is our second ranged option.  Captain Boomerang boasts the ability to shoot three targets up to seven squares away and his power set features the potent opening combination of Running Shot and Energy ExplosionRanged Combat Expert, Precision Strike and some Perplex sprinkled into the mix make Captain Boomerang a dangerous foe.

All the members of our squad have the Suicide Squad team ability, so it’s imperative that you keep Amanda Waller alive to take advantage of her There Is No Squad Without The Wall trait.  Our squad has a good mix of ranged and close attackers but admittedly support powers aren’t as plentiful.  Then again, when you’re playing the Suicide Squad, the only one who isn’t expendable is The Wall, right?
