On the Road - Gen Con 2012 - HeroClix by Wizkids Games

Greetings WizKids Fans and Supporters!

Hopefully we have all survived the fun and excitement of Origins and the HeroClix National tournament and fate brings us to the next big event on the calendar which is Gen Con on August 16-19, 2012 (www.gencon.com). This is the big event where we blow out all of the stops with tourneys of all shapes and sizes and for all levels of skill as well.

Are you a competitive player? Then the HeroClix World Championship is for you. Grind it out with the other best players in the world and prove you have what it takes to be the next HeroClix World Champion. If you win, you will get prizes like designing a HeroClix figure in a future expansion (pending licensor approval) and more LEs then you know what to do with.

If the HeroClix World Championship isn’t your thing then play in a Battle Royale, a “Run the Gauntlet” event, or one of 7 other events from Star Trek Tactics, Lord of the Rings or Street Fighter. Don’t want the pressure of playing in an event, then HeroClix Open Play is for you! Give us a generic ticket and you can play whatever type of HeroClix game that you want with your friends (of course pending available table space). An important thing to note is that playing in tourneys in the hall requires GenCon specific event tickets or generic event tickets as we are not allowed to take cash for events. Start signing up for ticketed events on May 20th at the GenCon website.

Don’t want to play in a HeroClix event, then play in Quorlds! And prove you are the top Quarrior in the World or stop by the booth and demo a game ranging from Lord of the Rings Nazgul to Hunger Games to HeroClix Online plus many other games yet to be revealed.

In the coming weeks, we’ll talk about the special LE prizes for these events. Will you punish your opponents, be alienated by defeat, bond with your friends, or save the best for last?

Gen Con 2012 Event Descriptions

HeroClix Battle Royales: Interested in fast and furious HeroClix play? Want to prove you’re the best no matter what team you draft? Then this event is for you! The HeroClix Battle Royales will be offered in four-player pods and will utilize boosters from either a DC or Marvel expansion.

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Thursday-Saturday 10AM-Midnight & Sunday 10AM-4PM

HeroClix Open Play Event: Have a killer team you want to try out? Do you and your friends need to kill some time before the next big HeroClix event? Join us for some HeroClix Free Play in the WizKids Tournament Area and battle it out for supremacy! Free Play will be contingent on availability of table space in the tournament area so check early and often!

Cost for this event will be $2 (1 Generic Ticket for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Thursday-Saturday 10AM-Midnight & Sunday 10AM-4PM

HeroClix “Run the Gauntlet” Event 1: Haven’t had enough of the Infinity Gauntlet events at your local store, then join us for the first “Run the Gauntlet” event. Build a 600 point Modern Age force with at least 300 points from either Superman and/or the Incredible Hulk expansion. This event is limited to 32 players. Can you wield the gauntlet?

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Thursday 6 PM

HeroClix “Run the Gauntlet” Event 2: Haven’t had enough of the Infinity Gauntlet events at your local store, then join us for the second “Run the Gauntlet” event. Build a 700 point Modern Age force with at least 400 points from either Incredible Hulk and/or Galactic Guardians expansion. This event is limited to 32 players. Can you wield the gauntlet?

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Friday 11 AM

HeroClix “Run the Gauntlet” Event 3: Haven’t had enough of the Infinity Gauntlet events at your local store, then join us for the third “Run the Gauntlet” event. Build a 400 point Modern Age force but it must be named keyword themed. This event is limited to 32 players. Can you wield the gauntlet?

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Friday 6 PM

HeroClix “Run the Gauntlet” Event 4: Haven’t had enough of the Infinity Gauntlet events at your local store, then join us for the fourth “Run the Gauntlet” event. Build a 300 point Modern Age force and battle it out with the other players. This event is limited to 32 players. Can you wield the gauntlet?

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Saturday 6 PM

HeroClix “Run the Gauntlet” Event 5: Haven’t had enough of the Infinity Gauntlet events at your local store, then join us for the fifth and final “Run the Gauntlet” event. Build a 300 point Modern Age force using pieces from the Incredible Hulk, Galactic Guardians, and/or Chaos War expansions exclusively. This event is limited to 32 players. Can you wield the gauntlet?

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Sunday 10 AM

HeroClix Golden Age Event: Which super-universe is the strongest out there? Anything goes in this tourney as you build a 300 point Golden Age team from any HeroClix expansion across the years. This event is limited to 32 players. Do you have what it takes to build a team of the ages and lead it to victory!

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Thursday 2 PM

HeroClix Street Fighter Tag Team Event: Build the best 400 point Modern Age team but each force may only have 4 figures! Two must be from Street Fighter and the other 2 from either DC or Marvel HeroClix. This event is limited to 16 players. Band your heroes together and lead them to glory!

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Thursday 4 PM & Saturday 4 PM

HeroClix Lord of the Rings Epic Event: Are you ready to rule over all of Middle Earth? Bring a Lord of the Rings only team of 400 points on Thursday or a 600 point team on Friday and lead it to victory. This event will be limited to 16 players. Will you be the one to claim the one ring to rule them all!

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Thursday 6 PM & Friday 6 PM

HeroClix Star Trek Tactics Event: Who will win the day in space? You decide by bringing a 300 point constructed Star Trek Tactics team and battle your opponents. This event will be limited to 16 players. Make your opponents scream your name in defeat!

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Friday 3 PM & Saturday 6 PM

Quarriors! Quorlds Qualifying Event: Do you have what it takes to qualify for Quorlds? Join us for this very special event and battle it out with other Quarriors for a spot in the Quorlds Semi-Finals on Saturday. Compete for glory in the eyes of Empress Quiana!

Cost for this event will be $2 (1 Generic Ticket for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Thursday-Friday 11 AM – Midnight

Quarriors! Quorlds Semi-Finals Event: You’ve made it to the Quorlds! Semi-Finals to do battle with the top 4 Quarriors from Origins and the local store qualifiers. Do you have what it takes to qualify for the Quorlds Final Event on Sunday? Compete for glory in the eyes of Empress Quiana and be one of the final 4 Quarriors standing.

Cost for this event will be covered by Wizkids.

Availability/Schedule: Saturday 2 PM

Quarriors! Quorlds Finals Event: THIS IS IT! You’ve proven yourself 1 of the top 4 Quarriors in the World. Do battle with the other Quarriors and prove you have what it takes to claim the crown as the top Quarrior.

Availability/Schedule: Sunday 11 AM

HeroClix World Championship Constructed Grinder Qualifying Event: Want to play in Worlds and prove you’ve got what it takes to be the BEST? Build your best 300 point Modern Age team and compete with 8 other players. Each constructed event will be run for 3 rounds and the winner will qualify for the semi-finals. You can only play in one constructed grinder per day and we will only run 20 of them per day.

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Thursday-Friday 10 AM-Midnight

HeroClix World Championship Sealed Grinder Qualifying Event: Want to play in Worlds and prove you’ve got what it takes to be the BEST? Each sealed grinder will be made up of 8 players and will be run for 3 rounds with the winner qualifying for the semi-finals. This event will utilize 2 boosters from the Chaos War expansion. You can play in as many sealed grinders per day as you want but we will only run 44 of them per day.

Cost for this event will be $24 (12 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Thursday-Friday 10 AM-Midnight

HeroClix World Championship “Last Chance” Grinder Event: Didn’t win a grinder on Thursday or Friday? This is your last chance to qualify for the HeroClix World Championship Finals on Sunday. Build a 400 point Modern Age force for the last seat in the Finals. Each round, you will review your opponent’s build and trim 100 points from your force for a 300 point match. This event will be limited to 64 players. Fight for the last seat in the HeroClix World Championship Finals!

Cost for this event will be $12 (6 Generic Tickets for each player).

Availability/Schedule: Saturday 10 AM

HeroClix World Championship Semi-Finals Event: You fought your way through the Grinders, now prepare for the next stage of the HeroClix Worlds Championship! Build the best 300 Point Golden Age Restricted force (All Tactics are prohibited except for standard objects (no special objects, BFCs, feats, resources, bystanders, theme teams, etc.)) and fight for your seat in the HeroClix World Championship Finals!

Cost for this event will be covered by Wizkids.

Availability/Schedule: Saturday 11 AM

HeroClix World Championship Final Event: THIS IS IT! You’ve battled through days of grueling competition and victory is in sight! Build the best 300 point Modern Age force and fight it out with the rest of the Top 16 and see who emerges victorious as the 2012 HeroClix World Champion!
