Our most heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all of our Top 16 Finalists, and congratulations again to Daniel Joynes, the 2011 HeroClix World Champion!

However, World Champ wasn’t the only title that was heavily contested. Throughout the weekend players demonstrated their skill at sealed play as they battled it out to be earn the distinction of being the 2011 King of the Hill!

Over 40 players tested their sealed mettle against each other during this year’s King of the Hill events, and all were determined to prove they were the best.  By the end of final even on Sunday, one player rose above all others as the 2011 King of the Hill; Nick Stanton!

Congratulations Nick on a hard-fought and well-played victory!

The excitement at GenCon wasn’t the only incredible HeroClix Tournament action lately.  Recently over 100 players gathered to compete in the Open de Madrid (Spanish National) HeroClix event in Spain.

Our local Tournament Organizer, Roberto Ruiz Garcia offered us this report of the day’s events:

“Here’s a little report about the Spanish National:

We got 107 players from all around the country, that means we doubled last year’s Madrid’s championship (Open de Madrid, as we call it) attendance, which was 51 players.

Most of last year’s players came back again this year, and I think they’ll come again next year. People on the forums are really really happy about how everything went, about the great quality and quantity of the prizes, and WizKid’s support. Next year we’ll have even more people!

A local TV channel came to do a little piece about HeroClix and the championship… turns out in addition to appearing on the news, that channel also provides the subway news channel with info, so I ended up appearing all around the subway network, haha.

Only complaints from the players were that it was too hot in there (as if it could have been any other way, July in Madrid…) and having no luck with their boosters, so I’m happy with the result even though I had to rush things a bit during the evening due to an unexpected delay.

Regards,

-Roberto”

Thank you Roberto, and our congratulations to the new Open de Madrid Champion, David Ramirez!
